Tutu Tuesday in Merthyr Tydfil
Well, darlings, it's that time again: Tutu Tuesday! This week, I decided to break out of my usual London haunts and take a road trip to Merthyr Tydfil, a town that's not exactly known for its haute couture. However, I was determined to show these lovely folks that a touch of tutus can elevate even the most down-to-earth fashion game.
The first stop was the bustling Market Square. I chose a dramatic, tiered tulle tutu in a vibrant cobalt blue – think a ballet-meets-disco vibe – perfect for attracting some attention amidst the vibrant stalls and friendly locals. It’s all about bringing that Parisian chic wherever you go, don’t you know! Of course, the tutus really set the mood – after all, it’s about embracing the fun and quirky and letting loose on #tututuesday!
I made friends with a couple of cheeky youngsters in the park, who declared themselves my “official Tutu Squad”. Their infectious enthusiasm and my tutu's swirling movements quickly garnered a few curious onlookers. One delightful old gent, with a mischievous twinkle in his eye, remarked: "You know, this town’s been needin’ a bit more color!” Well, if my vibrant blue tutu and my swirling twirls could brighten up his day, then I was all for it!
Next, I stopped by the historic Cyfarthfa Castle – a truly stunning architectural masterpiece. I chose a classically-elegant white tutu for this occasion – think more Swan Lake meets romantic castle, and less disco. I decided on a more flowing style, allowing the soft tulle to billow around me as I posed for pictures by the iconic water fountains and majestic castle walls. I truly felt like a fairytale princess, walking through history. Honestly, who could resist posing for pictures amidst the sheer beauty?
Finally, for a delightful evening escapade, I headed to the local pub for a proper Welsh pint and some friendly banter. To truly make my presence known, I wore a short, playful pink tutu. I decided to add some contemporary flair with a pair of edgy, leather boots - a touch of a punkish edge paired with a romantic tutus. It’s all about creating that unexpected balance, dear readers!
As I chatted with the locals over a pint (or two!), there was definitely a certain air of amusement, followed by a warming acceptance of my Tutu Tuesday extravaganza. Everyone seemed genuinely intrigued by the whole experience and even started suggesting future themes for the next time I ventured into their lovely town. “Goths with Tutus!” a jovial chap at the bar exclaimed. Well, there is a story for another day!
My Merthyr Tydfil adventures on Tutu Tuesday proved one thing – you can’t help but smile when you see a tutu. It brings out the joy in every age and walks of life. A bit of whimsy goes a long way and is guaranteed to lift your spirits, or at least make you stop and look! So, wherever you are in the world, I implore you, don your own tutus and spread the joy!
Here are a few Tutu Tuesday tips from my recent travels:
