Tutu Tuesday in Bordeaux, Nouvelle-Aquitaine, France #tututuesday
G'day lovelies!
It's me, Chloe, your average Aussie ballerina who's obsessed with tutus and all things sparkly. This week I'm taking my love of dance to the streets of Bordeaux, France! Yep, you heard me right! I've swapped my usual Bondi Beach sunset strolls for the cobbled streets of this stunning French city.
Now, you might be wondering, "Why Bordeaux, Chloe?". Well, let me tell ya, this city's got it all - stunning architecture, incredible food (the wine's not bad either!), and a thriving ballet scene. And what better way to celebrate this than with a "Tutu Tuesday"? I'm talking about **#tututuesday**, a day dedicated to tutus and everything fabulous about dance. I thought I'd take my love for tutus on a mini tour of this amazing city, and you know me, I always bring a touch of Aussie charm with me.
So, grab your favourite frocks (or in this case, tutu) and follow along!
First stop: **The Grand Théâtre de Bordeaux**. This place is seriously iconic, and I couldn't imagine a better location for a Tutu Tuesday. It's not just any old theatre. I mean, can we talk about the design? Talk about some serious architectural magic! I'm all for a touch of Parisian chic and the Grand Theatre certainly delivered.
You see, this majestic old girl has been the hub of ballet in Bordeaux since its inauguration back in the 18th century. That’s right, she's seen more than a few iconic ballerinas gracefully gliding across her stage. Now, just imagine that elegant old stage and you're picturing this breathtaking building... a real testament to history, beauty, and yes, the artistry of ballet!
But there's more! Bordeaux has got this seriously awesome thing going on: Ballet Bordeaux! It's like the hottest dance crew in town, and let me tell you, these guys are serious. We’re talking passionate ballerinas and charismatic male dancers, giving it their all with stunning routines that take your breath away.
I couldn't miss out on their latest show - *Cinderella*, the classic love story told through the graceful language of ballet. From the soft tulle of Cinderella's first costume, a real fairytale confection of blush and powder pink, to the regal panoply of the fairy godmother's majestic cape, I was absolutely enchanted. You guys wouldn't believe the way these ballerinas could twirl, jump, and express those Cinderella feelings through their movement.
So, how about this Tutu Tuesday?
* I slipped into a classic, elegant white tutu with some delicate hand-beaded embellishments.
* Just the thing for a little Parisian walk around the city.
* Oh, I wouldn't be caught dead in Bordeaux without my cute little berets, too!
We took a few selfies - you gotta love the memories, and those picture-perfect moments - with the grand facade of the Grand Théâtre.
**A Ballet Feast for the Eyes!**
From the breathtaking stage to the dancers' awe-inspiring movements, Ballet Bordeaux gave us a spectacular show!
And then... there's the food scene! Oh, the glorious food scene! French food? *Chef's kiss* And I had the absolute honour of sharing it all with these amazing locals - the most delightful and friendly folk you could imagine.
And what could be better after a night of enchanting ballet than a leisurely walk along the Garonne River with the sunset casting a warm, golden glow? The ambiance was electric!
We also stopped by this adorable little bakery called Boulangerie Pâtisserie - where they whip up the most exquisite macarons I've ever had. I was totally in heaven! Talk about a Tutu Tuesday treat!
Tutu Tuesdays are a Global Thing Now!**
So, my dear ballet loving friends, where will you be sporting your tutus for Tutu Tuesdays this week? It’s time to take your love for ballet out of the studio and into the world! #tututuesday
But that's not all, my dance enthusiasts! I’ll be back next week, hopefully with some more awesome ballet adventures to share from here in Bordeaux. So, stay tuned!
In the meantime, keep those tutus twirling, those smiles bright, and always remember - ballet is a language that transcends borders!
Your dancing Aussie,
Chloe
