Tutu Tuesday in Ajaccio, Corsica, France! #tututuesday G'day lovelies! This Tutu Tuesday finds me in the stunning city of Ajaccio on the beautiful island of Corsica, France. I've been a ballerina since I was a little girl back in Sydney, and travelling the world with my passion for dance has been a dream come true. And this trip to Corsica, my latest adventure, has been nothing short of magical! I must admit, my Tutu Tuesday attire has taken a slightly more relaxed turn this time. No need for the classic, super-strict tutus of my Sydney days. Corsica's vibes are all about the carefree, bohemian spirit, and I'm loving it. Think floaty chiffon skirts, gorgeous lace details, and of course, a dash of glitter. This island, with its vibrant history, diverse landscapes, and breathtaking coastline, inspires a touch of playful glamour in my everyday style. My tutu this week is a gorgeous white cotton number I picked up from a little boutique in the old town of Ajaccio. It's got this delicate floral print all over it, perfect for twirling along the narrow, cobblestone streets. It's also super comfy, which is a bonus when you're doing as much exploring as I am! One thing I've learned while traveling the world is that every place has its own unique dance story. Ballet in France has such a rich and diverse history, and here in Corsica, I've been discovering local dance forms, particularly traditional Corsican dances like the "Passa-Calle," with its strong emphasis on storytelling and dramatic flourishes. So, after a morning spent strolling through the picturesque streets, I popped into the local dance studio. They were holding a special workshop for tourists, focusing on the beautiful, dramatic gestures and flowing movements of Corsican folk dances. I must admit, my Sydney-style ballet technique was put to the test with those grand, theatrical steps and the elaborate footwork! It was an exhilarating challenge! Then it was onto lunch, which of course had to be enjoyed while rocking my breezy tutu! I opted for a traditional Corsican meal at a local café, surrounded by the hustle and bustle of Ajaccio life. Can we talk about the seafood here? Simply divine! I enjoyed the freshest oysters I've ever tasted, followed by a hearty bouillabaisse - a French fisherman's stew. Oh, and the wine? Don't even get me started! Corsica, like its stunning scenery, truly embraces the finer things in life! Later on, I ventured towards the picturesque Citadelle, Ajaccio's historic fort perched on a hilltop overlooking the city and harbour. It’s not every day that you can wear a tutu while taking in the majestic panorama of a bustling Mediterranean port. But this is Corsica! As the sun started to dip below the horizon, I found myself walking along the beautiful Ajaccio harborfront, bathed in the warm evening glow. My white, flower-patterned tutu blended effortlessly with the magical ambiance, making me feel like a whimsical dancer from another time. One thing that's fascinated me in Corsica is the dedication to traditional crafts. This place is a real treasure trove of handcrafted wares – exquisite woven textiles, handcrafted jewellery, and delicate lace items that are absolute must-haves for any tutu enthusiast! And of course, no Corsican visit is complete without a visit to one of the local artisan workshops to soak in the creativity and expertise that pours from every handcrafted detail. So, whether you're a seasoned ballet dancer, a tutu-loving fashionista, or just someone who enjoys exploring the world with a sprinkle of elegance, Ajaccio, Corsica is definitely a must-visit. And I'm leaving you with this tip: Pack your fluffiest, most glamorous tutu - because Corsica deserves your best moves! Here's to the magic of dance and to celebrating every day in your own unique way, just like those beautiful, expressive Corsican folk dancers. Have a fantastic week! And don't forget to post your Tutu Tuesday outfit on social media. Don't forget to use the hashtags #tututuesday, #ajaccio and #corsica so I can see you! See you next week! Love, [Blogger's Name]
