Tutu Tuesday in Noisy-le-Sec, Île-de-France, France #tututuesday

G'day from the City of Lights! As a seasoned Aussie ballet dancer, I’m always up for a good tutu-tastic time, and I’m officially declaring this Tuesday a national ‘Tutu Tuesday’ – just kidding (although, if you wanna make it official…!).

Today, I found myself in the charming city of Noisy-le-Sec, located in the northern suburbs of Paris. The sun was out, the birds were singing, and the locals were looking très chic as always. Now, you know what I was thinking, right? “Tutu-tastic opportunity!”. So I whipped out my phone, and captured a couple of Insta-worthy shots that I'm sure you guys will love.

Now, before you think I’m wearing a traditional tutu, I’m not. Today, we're talking about a fun, casual style – a playful **“street-chic”** take on a tutu, and it’s my absolute favourite kind. It’s the sort of outfit that feels effortlessly elegant, without being too serious.

If you’re looking for a way to amp up your #OOTD for a night out, a relaxed evening walk with your besties, or maybe a romantic dinner, street chic tutus are the way to go, they can work with practically every outfit. A hint of tulle goes a long way, it’s the perfect way to add a little drama and femininity. Think layers of soft tulle skirts over a dress, maybe paired with a killer pair of platform boots or statement sandals. I swear it adds some real magic.

Speaking of tulle, there’s an art to it. When it comes to street-style tutus, remember it’s not just about the tutu itself, it’s the way you style it, just like a great painting.

  • A touch of glamour: Imagine layering a black tutu over a white midi-dress – instantly chic. Pair it with an oversized cardigan and knee-high boots, you're good to go. It's an effortless look that you can throw together on the fly, and the best bit? The contrast between the soft tulle and a more structured garment – it’s truly amazing.
  • The perfect party dress: Let’s be real – tulle is party perfection. Just take that party vibe, layer a soft tutu over a cute crop top with some metallic heels – the outfit speaks for itself. You could throw on a simple leather jacket to complete the look.
  • Layer it up, it’s the way to go. The layers can be super versatile. Start with a loose-fitting top (perhaps a turtleneck?) then layer up with a skirt for that super cool '90s vibe. And to complete this, we’ve gotta have a tutu! Slip on your favourite, layer it over the skirt and then tie a waist belt - instant Parisian chic.
  • Don't underestimate the power of colour: Tutus aren't just black and white, guys! I’ve always said that a bright colour is the way to go for a truly stand-out style. Think about what really suits your skin tone. I like to do a vibrant emerald green or maybe a bold blue. This really gives it that je ne sais quoi – you know, the ultimate French street style charm.
  • Let’s not forget about the ballet! Today, after all, I did go for a stroll through this city of light – a city of romance, art and (dare I say) a little bit of drama. Now, who says that a tutu needs to be purely for the stage? A nod to this history can work in the streets! For a French style with a nod to our ballerinas, try pairing a cute tutu with a fitted top (like a camisole), and then a beautiful oversized blazer on top, and if you’re feeling extra, tie the blazer around your waist. It’s a true combination of comfort, class, and ballet style all at the same time, that's definitely worth a double take.

The possibilities with a tutu are endless, no matter your location. There's a tutu out there waiting to complete the look. The key to owning a tutu, just like the perfect ballerina, is knowing your lines - the line between formal and casual. If you do it right, you’ll be a fashion star in any city. And if you do feel brave enough, try wearing your favourite tutu while you’re walking around town. The reaction you’ll get? Worth it! Trust me, guys. Just go with the flow and be unapologetically you – it’s a feeling of confidence, it's your freedom of self-expression, it’s about having fun and being you in the streets of Noisy-le-Sec and Paris. Don't worry, there's definitely an element of "tutu cool" waiting for you to explore! You can wear your heart on your sleeve - or, in this case, your tulle on your body.

Until next time, my darlings, Happy Tutu Tuesday! I’m signing off for now. #tututuesday #balletlife #streetstyle #ootd #frenchstyle
