Tutu Tuesday in Clermont-Ferrand, Auvergne-Rhone-Alpes, France: A Parisian Ballet Adventure #tututuesday

G'day, fashionistas! This week's #tututuesday finds me jet-setting through the cobblestone streets of Clermont-Ferrand, France. It's the most stunning city I've ever seen - a blend of ancient history and modern sophistication. And as any Aussie ballet dancer worth their pointe shoes knows, a city like this simply begs for a little tutu magic! 👠

Today's outfit is all about Parisian chic meets ballerinas. We're talking sleek lines, classic colours and just a hint of Parisian sass. Think a soft, ballerina-pink tutu that flows like a dream. It's got a bit of a vintage vibe, which is totally on point here in France. I've paired it with a delicate white silk camisole, perfect for keeping things light and airy, and my favourite black leather biker jacket. Yeah, I know, you're thinking "a tutu and a leather jacket? Really?!" But trust me, it's all about the contrast! It's this unexpected blend that makes the look so Parisian.

Clermont-Ferrand is the capital of the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region in France, a place known for its history, culture and beautiful scenery. And while I’m here, I’ve been exploring all things ballet. Did you know that ballet has been a part of French culture for centuries? The French love their ballet! It’s considered an art form of immense beauty and technical skill.

After spending the morning exploring the Clermont-Ferrand Opera Ballet, I found myself captivated by their vibrant, expressive performances. Seeing the way they blend traditional ballets with contemporary pieces is honestly incredible. There’s a level of passion here that’s hard to describe – the audience was completely engrossed in every move, every leap, every gesture.

Here are some highlights from my tutu-inspired day in Clermont-Ferrand:

  • I snagged a truly fabulous tutu, a gorgeous classic design that screams elegance. You know the kind - it’s just the right amount of frills and tulle. It's basically perfect for dancing on the cobblestone streets of France, or just being a total #balletqueen for a day.
  • Exploring the charming cafes around Place de Jaude. My inner ballerina is convinced they've added an extra bit of magical "twirl" to their coffee. ☕️
  • Trying to keep up with the French in their fast-paced, chic walking pace. My long, elegant skirt does not make this easy. (Note to self: must invest in walking shoes for future tutuing excursions.)
  • Snapping a ton of Insta-worthy photos at the city’s architectural marvels, including the iconic Notre-Dame Cathedral.

It’s true what they say – Clermont-Ferrand is a truly magical place, especially with a tutu on. From the graceful dancers in the opera to the intricate architecture of the city, there’s something breathtaking at every turn. If you’re a lover of dance and beauty, add this enchanting city to your travel list – you won't be disappointed. I certainly wasn't. I even managed to pick up a few new tutus while I was there - so it's not just a #tututuesday for me anymore. It's a whole tutu week! 💖
