Tutu Tuesday in Vigneux-sur-Seine, ÃŽle-de-France, France #tututuesday

G'day, darlings! It's your favourite Aussie ballerina, back with another fashion-tastic update straight from the heart of France! This week, I'm whisking you away to Vigneux-sur-Seine, a charming little town just outside of Paris, for a very special Tutu Tuesday. Now, I know what you're thinking – a suburb of Paris? Doesn't that sound a bit, well, *beige*?

But trust me, my dears, you haven't seen the magic of ballet in this neck of the woods until you've seen it for yourself. This place is absolutely bursting with creative energy and, as you can probably guess from the title, it's the tutus that have captured my attention.

As I strolled through the cobblestone streets, I couldn't help but feel the buzz of creativity. This town is buzzing with the history of French ballet – think of the legendary Diaghilev Ballets Russes, or even the rise of contemporary ballet with choreographers like Maurice Béjart and Merce Cunningham. But Vigneux-sur-Seine has a charm all of its own.

The day I visited was just buzzing! The main street was bursting with a delightful energy, a real melting pot of personalities. Now, when it comes to fashion in Vigneux-sur-Seine, let's just say they do it with a certain flair. It's that signature French chic but with a laid-back Parisian vibe – imagine classic coats, sleek jumpers, a hint of vintage and just a touch of that je ne sais quoi. So chic!

But what truly stole the show was the ballet studio – a true gem hidden away in a quiet little laneway. Imagine it – faded pink walls, a grand old piano with a faded silk cover, and this heavenly smell of dust and history. The kind of studio where you know years of magical dance moves have been spun. And it's a total haven for ballet lovers! I found a bunch of gorgeous tutus tucked away in cabinets. We’re talking about a kaleidoscope of styles:

  • Classy traditional tutus in shimmering white with tulle that floats like clouds, perfect for those graceful ballets we all love, the kind that feel straight out of a fairy tale.
  • Short, bold, and contemporary tutus that speak of rebellion, designed for the powerful athleticism of contemporary dance – imagine them with those vibrant fabrics!
  • Vintage tutus, the kind that tell stories with their faded silks and intricate embroidery – like little pieces of art waiting to come to life.
  • And for you tutu trendsetters, the modern, ultra-stylish designs that break all the rules. Forget your classic tutu, these creations are edgy, vibrant, and pushing the boundaries – imagine sequins, unexpected fabrics and daring cuts!

To be honest, it's all a bit much, but it's wonderful to be in a space where style and movement converge. It really got my creative juices flowing.

Now, back to the heart of Tutu Tuesday. There was this beautiful, bright, almost-neon-pink tutu that stopped me in my tracks. The fabric, it was soft like clouds, it twirled so effortlessly, like it was dancing on its own! A dream tutu – that's what this little creation is all about. The owner, an amazing little dancer with a heart as big as her bright-red hair, told me that it’s meant to represent joy and creativity. Honestly, just looking at it brings a smile to my face.

I couldn’t resist getting myself a little something – it’s always important to add to your tutu collection. A beautiful black tutu with the most exquisite detailing on the bodice – just a little something to remind me of this beautiful trip!

And of course, it wouldn’t be Tutu Tuesday without a bit of dancing. The little ballet studio had an open class for beginners and, even though I wasn’t really expecting it, I couldn’t resist joining in. Now, I know I’m not the most graceful beginner but I had a lot of fun – those little leaps and pirouettes just feel incredible, like the air is taking you somewhere.

Anyway, back to our delightful fashion discoveries. Just as I was getting into the flow of the class, the music stopped and a familiar song came on the studio's speaker – "Je suis un petit chat noir." The little black cat. That adorable tune had me immediately transported to childhood memories – a tiny kitten who, at the age of six, I used to imagine myself dancing alongside.

Let me tell you, my dears, that’s when the magic happened. Suddenly, this small studio in Vigneux-sur-Seine transformed into a Parisian salon – we were surrounded by tulle and the scent of champagne. The whole space came alive with movement and the story of this charming little kitten began to unfold, all while this petite ballet class swirled to this familiar, whimsical tune.

As I was getting ready to leave, the ballet studio was suddenly bursting with the giggles and excited chatter of little dancers as their class finished. My dears, these were the cutest things you’ve ever seen – it reminded me of when I was just starting out. It was amazing to witness how ballet has this ability to draw children in, it’s an amazing expression and it really does build confidence, not to mention all the hard work, focus and discipline.

So there you have it – my journey to Vigneux-sur-Seine. A trip bursting with beauty and a story just begging to be told! I truly think this town’s magic deserves to be discovered – it’s got history, it’s got style, it’s got art, and most importantly, it’s got some incredible, vibrant, imaginative dance! If you are planning a visit to Paris anytime soon, try going a bit outside of the main sights and do yourself a favour and spend a few hours exploring this little Parisian gem. You might just find a treasure.
