Tutu Tuesday in Clichy-sous-Bois, île-de-France, France #tututuesday

G'day, lovelies! It's your girl, Ava, back with another installment of my weekly Tutu Tuesday adventure. This week, I've taken my love of twirling and tulle to the charming streets of Clichy-sous-Bois, just outside Paris.

As a ballerina born and raised in the land of sunshine and shrimp on the barbie, I've always felt a special connection to tutus. These ethereal garments embody grace, elegance, and a hint of cheeky mischief – a perfect match for an Aussie gal! I've spent years exploring every possible style of tutu, from the classic romantic, with its layers of flowing tulle, to the modern and sleek, offering a more contemporary edge.

Clichy-sous-Bois is an area steeped in Parisian history, and the air is thick with the spirit of classic French ballet. The graceful lines of the architecture, the cobbled streets, and the elegant cafes – it's like stepping onto a stage!

The energy of ballet runs deep here. The local ballet school is home to a passionate community of aspiring ballerinas. From little tykes in their adorable beginner's tutus to teenagers in their graceful and stylish variations, the energy here is palpable.

My journey began with a trip to a small shop tucked away on a quaint side street. The air was sweet with the scent of fabric softener and freshly cut wood. Behind the counter, an old French gentleman, wearing a well-worn beret and a smile as warm as a Parisian croissant, showed me some vintage tutus from the 1950s. The quality was impeccable!

Imagine it: layers of pale pink tulle, a whisper of lavender lace, and intricate floral details that felt like a timeless piece of art! Each stitch and ribbon embodied the Parisian grace I had come to admire.

Later, I strolled through the streets, my classic tutu, a whisper of white with soft pleating that swept across the ground like an elegant ballet dancer's footsteps, dancing along with me. My outfit was the perfect homage to the city's rich ballet legacy and an echo of the elegant women I had imagined dancing these very streets a century ago.

Here's a glimpse into some of my favourite Tutu Tuesday memories:

  • Posing for photos against the backdrop of the historic Church of Saint-Denis in Clichy-sous-Bois, where a burst of sunshine was highlighting the delicate lace detailing on my romantic tutu!
  • Taking a class at the local ballet school and feeling like I'd just stepped into a charming French fairytale, where the dancers moved with grace and the atmosphere was full of youthful exuberance.
  • Exploring the bustling open-air markets where locals shared their passion for handmade crafts, a vibrant counterpoint to the timeless elegance of my chosen tutu.
  • Gracing a traditional Parisian cafe, indulging in a cup of rich, aromatic coffee while my delicate ballet skirt whispered tales of romance and Parisian dreaming!

I truly feel there's a certain magic in France when it comes to ballet. From the beautiful choreography, to the elegant architecture, and the passionate local dance scene, Clichy-sous-Bois offered a breathtaking glimpse into a world full of beauty and grace. It’s a reminder that no matter what kind of tutu you’re rocking, the important thing is to embrace your own inner dancer, and to feel the magic in every step you take!

Remember, if you are looking for a special kind of sparkle in your wardrobe, look no further than a beautifully made, and beautifully worn tutu! This tulle wonder can transform your outfit, and transform you into your most stylish, whimsical, and elegant self!

Au revoir, loves! I’m already planning my next Tutu Tuesday adventure!
