Tutu Tuesday in Sotteville-lès-Rouen, Normandy, France #tututuesday
Bonjour, mes amis! This week's #tututuesday takes me to the charming town of Sotteville-lès-Rouen in the beautiful region of Normandy, France. I've always loved the history and culture of this country, and I've found myself completely captivated by the French approach to ballet. The ballet scene here in Sotteville-lès-Rouen is incredibly vibrant and I was lucky enough to catch a performance by the local ballet company, Les Ballets Rouennais, on Monday evening. It was simply stunning! They were performing a contemporary piece set to the music of Debussy and it was absolutely mesmerizing. I was particularly struck by the costumes, with their flowing fabrics and delicate lace - it was pure artistry. But the real highlight of my trip, you guessed it, was my own tutu moment! I was wearing the most beautiful tulle tutu with a flowing layered skirt, I just knew it was perfect for a little tutu twirling around Sotteville-lès-Rouen. And of course, no #tututuesday would be complete without a few snaps! I picked out some gorgeous spots in the town square, with its old-world architecture and quaint cafes, and let the tutu do its thing. Here's what my day of Parisian glamour looked like!
**French Charm and Ballet Inspiration**
When I think of tutus, I think of the timeless beauty of classical ballet. That classic "Romantic" style of tutu is so effortlessly graceful and timeless with layers of tulle flowing effortlessly, It embodies the spirit of the early Romantic period of ballet - ethereal, elegant, and absolutely dreamy. The ballerina is almost a goddess, swirling and gliding through the air. I actually picked up some fabric samples from one of the amazing Parisian shops. I'm thinking of adding my own custom-made, tulle masterpiece to my tutu collection - I have a few ideas. But, honestly, they don't seem so fancy compared to the masterpieces I saw in Rouen! This local French approach to ballet is all about artistry and passion.
A Touch of Parisian Glamour - #tututuesday
I simply cannot leave a #tututuesday without a special tip for my fellow tutu-lovers. I was surprised to find this incredible Parisian fashion house hidden in a quiet corner of Sotteville-lès-Rouen. They actually sell beautiful tutu fabrics, with designs ranging from the classic romantic tulle to more contemporary styles like silk chiffon with sequins. The shop has been there since the 1950s, which makes it the kind of place you just need to go! If you're planning a trip to Normandy or just want some incredible French fabric for your next project, this little spot is worth seeking out. I know my next ballet inspired creations will include a piece of this beautiful fabric!
It is not just tutus for the dancers either, if you love tutus and want something glamorous and special you could get yourself a skirt with tulle. The classic tutu style skirt is one of my favorites, this simple, romantic garment gives a unique femininity that can elevate your everyday look. For me, tutus represent the power and beauty of dance, the elegance and joy that comes from moving your body. That's what makes them so much more than just a garment; it's an expression, a way to share a story, and a reminder to live your life to the fullest! I am absolutely going to explore the shops here for my new #tututuesday looks, maybe I'll see if I can find the next vintage gem here in the old cobblestone streets of this picturesque French city.
