Tutu Tuesday in Oullins, Auvergne-Rhone-Alpes, France: A Parisian Ballet Adventure

G'day lovelies! This Tutu Tuesday, I'm swapping my usual Aussie sunshine for a dose of Parisian charm, right here in the lovely city of Oullins. Now, Oullins might not be a city that immediately springs to mind for a ballet aficionado, but it's brimming with artistic flair and a unique style that has definitely charmed me.

Imagine me, sporting my favourite classic tutu. This one's a beauty, all delicate layers of tulle in a crisp white, so it flows perfectly when I twirl. It’s a real fairytale-princess vibe, which makes sense for a day filled with fairytale castles and charming cafes, right?

But let’s talk about Oullins and its connection to ballet. There’s a genuine love for this art form here in France, which means finding ballet schools and performances is easy. In fact, this very week, I caught a local performance at the Salle Polyvalente. It was a vibrant, joyful affair showcasing the talents of the local ballet school. The kids were a real joy to watch, and their energy reminded me of my own beginnings, when my own love for ballet blossomed.

I spent the afternoon discovering hidden gems – little shops brimming with tutus, fabrics, and all sorts of ballet paraphernalia. They are simply bursting with inspiration. It's enough to inspire a dancer’s dreams and send those creative juices flowing!

My favourite find? A charming little boutique, "Le Fil Rouge". Now, Le Fil Rouge isn’t just about ballet, it’s all about capturing that elegance and grace. It’s a world of tulle, silk, and satin, perfect for a princess-worthy Tutu Tuesday, or any day, for that matter. They have an amazing selection of tutus, too, from the classic romantic to the modern contemporary styles. They really have something to suit every dancer's style and occasion.

Of course, no visit to France is complete without indulging in some culinary delights. The afternoon tea at a charming cafe in the old part of Oullins was the perfect way to end my day. I can’t remember the name of the place, but they made the most beautiful macarons, so pretty and dainty, like something you'd see at the ballet. And yes, I had the inevitable pain au chocolat with my coffee. It was a delicious moment of sweet indulgence and cultural exploration.

I must admit, this city has truly captured my heart. Oullins has given me a new appreciation for France’s deep and passionate connection to dance and the arts. Even in the midst of this whirlwind of ballet exploration, I couldn’t resist capturing some snaps for Instagram. My feed is now brimming with stunning images of #tututuesdayinOullins. It's definitely given me a whole new perspective on tutu fashion, too! I'm now dreaming up my next #tututuesday look – maybe a fiery red tutu to match the energy of the city.

Until next time, keep those tutus twirling, loves!
