Tutu Tuesday in Cenon, Nouvelle-Aquitaine: A Fashionable Frenzy
G'day lovelies! It's your gal, Chloe, here, back with another dose of all things dance and fashion. This week, I'm in the beautiful town of Cenon, in the Nouvelle-Aquitaine region of France. I was lucky enough to be invited to a special tutu-themed event, celebrating the rich tradition of ballet here in France, and of course, I had to get in on the action!
You know I always love a good tutu, but this week I was feeling especially sassy. I whipped out my favourite romantic tutu: a classic tulle, with delicate embroidery and a soft, romantic silhouette. Perfect for a little twirl among the charming cobblestone streets. I think I got quite a few looks, especially when I popped by the Cenon ballet school to check out the local talent. Those kids were seriously impressive - talk about budding superstars! The teachers at the school were super lovely, and I even got to share some tips on how to really own a tutu. You know, the whole graceful, powerful thing.
Speaking of twirling, that's exactly what everyone was doing at the event itself. We were greeted with delicious French pastries and champagne, before hitting the dance floor for an impromptu ballet showcase. People came dressed to the nines in all sorts of different styles, from classic tutus to bold, modern designs that really showed off the Parisian fashion flair. It was amazing!
But hold up! There was more...
There was also a delightful fashion competition, where participants could show off their best tutu looks. Think, "ballet meets couture", but with a sparkling, bubbly French twist! It was a riot! And the prize? A bespoke tutu, hand-designed by a renowned local milliner. Talk about the perfect souvenir from a day celebrating all things tutus!
Cenon definitely knows how to throw a celebration. I loved seeing the locals embracing their love for dance and fashion, all in the spirit of #Tututuesday. I even learned a few fun facts about the ballet in France! Did you know that French ballet is known for its beautiful, fluid style, as well as its focus on dramatic expression? It really was a treat to witness this tradition firsthand!
