Tutu Tuesday in Élancourt, Île-de-France: A Ballerina’s Parisian Adventure

G’day from Paris, darlings! I know, I know, it feels like I've been posting about tutus non-stop, but it's Tutu Tuesday, and I can't let the occasion slip by! Today I'm in Élancourt, Île-de-France, exploring the world of ballet in this charming French city.

Stepping out of my apartment this morning, I felt a surge of excitement, a twinge of nerves and, yes, even a little bit of fashion-fueled fear. This Tutu Tuesday, I wasn't just rocking a tutu— I was embracing a different kind of fashion challenge. Let's face it, tutu-ing in Paris is about so much more than a fluffy skirt! It's about channeling an inner Parisian chicness, a mix of classic elegance and a touch of, dare I say, daring?

I decided to take things to the next level this week with a tutu that's all about being different. Forget the classic romantic tutu - think something a bit more modern, with a touch of edginess, if you will. Now, I wouldn’t call myself a daring dresser usually, but a tutu is all about a splash of daring and something unexpected! I went with a gorgeous blush-toned tutu in a modern A-line silhouette, giving a more relaxed, street-style vibe to this little number. Its asymmetrical hem adds a touch of whimsical, while the sheer tulle just seems to float in the Parisian air! You’ve gotta love that about this little outfit.

Now, for a French woman on Tutu Tuesday, there's one golden rule – a classic touch! To complement the tutu, I chose my favourite classic white blouse, which was perfect for showcasing my graceful shoulders! Honestly, this entire look is channeling ‘Parisian Ballerina’ - who doesn’t love a bit of grace?

I walked down the street, my tutu flowing with every step, and realised something incredible: I was no longer just a girl from down-under in a tutu - I was a Parisian ballerina. Here, tutus weren't just for ballet classes. They were an extension of Parisian style – a testament to this city's inherent love for creativity and self-expression. That's what I find so exciting about ballet in France, and it's not just the way the French dress - It’s the actual culture and atmosphere of dance!

Walking down the cobbled streets of Élancourt, I felt an immediate connection to the rich history of dance. As if it had a heartbeat all of its own, the place was breathing the story of generations of dancers – from the early days of the Royal Ballet, to the modern movement, and all the beautiful nuances and flourishes that went along the way!

One of the places that captured this beauty and history perfectly was the Élancourt Conservatoire. Walking into this vibrant, artistic space, I felt myself transport back to my own childhood ballet days – the memory of dusty barres, mirrored walls and those worn-out pointe shoes felt ever present. You can almost hear the rhythm of the dancer's feet, right?

One thing I couldn't get over - they were SO enthusiastic about their ballet in this town. You could really feel that this was a local tradition and everyone seemed to have a personal connection with it.

Speaking to one of the teachers, she explained that, even though Élancourt isn’t quite Paris, its dance community was every bit as dedicated. They have regular dance festivals, workshops, and community classes, attracting not only serious dancers, but the entire town, really!

I just had to do something for my Tutu Tuesday that reflected this spirit, you know? It’s about more than just putting on a tutu for fun (although let’s face it, it is ridiculously fun) – it’s about honoring and experiencing something truly special!

I decided to join a local community ballet class, just for a quick 15-minute drop-in. You would not believe how amazing it was, I literally danced the day away!

So I just wanted to give a shout-out to the amazing Élancourt ballet community! And remember, no matter where you are in the world, let’s keep Tutu Tuesday going. Embrace your inner ballerina – even if it’s just for a quick spin around the room – Let’s all keep spreading this fabulous Tutu Tuesday love, It’s definitely not all about tutus, but it’s all about bringing ballet into your day – no matter your skill or level, really. Because hey, the best part about dancing? You just feel fantastic!

Until next time, lovelies, keep on twirling!
