Tutu Tuesday in Armentières, Hauts-de-France, France #tututuesday

G'day lovelies! Your girl Chloe here, back with another post from my grand European adventure. This time, I'm in Armentières, Hauts-de-France, a charming little town with a big heart. I just had to share my Tutu Tuesday experience with you – it was simply sensational!

So, Armentières, right? You'd be forgiven for not knowing much about this town. But let me tell ya, it's a hidden gem, especially for a ballet fanatic like me. While it might not be Paris or Marseille, Armentières boasts a vibrant local ballet scene. And let me tell you, these French dancers have some serious moves!

My mission today? To bring a touch of Tutu Tuesday magic to the streets of Armentières. And what better way to do that than with a stunning, bright pink, romantic tutu with fluffy tulle. The perfect touch of Parisian flair. I know, I know, you're thinking pink isn't exactly the "classic" tutu colour but you gotta go with what makes you feel confident and beautiful, right?

Now, I gotta confess, rocking a tutu in public isn't for the faint of heart. There were a few sideways glances, some whispered conversations, but hey, it comes with the territory of Tutu Tuesday! The reaction was mostly positive. One elderly gentleman even gave me a cheeky thumbs up. Score!

Honestly, the best part of Tutu Tuesday was meeting local dancers. You know, those souls who wear their love for ballet on their sleeves, or should I say, tutus? Turns out, the little local studio I popped into, called "Centre de Danse Armentières," has some pretty talented dancers! They were all so friendly, welcoming, and excited to chat about their passion. They even offered to show me some moves, which I’ll admit, I couldn’t quite master! You know, French technique, very different!

It was so refreshing to see this beautiful dance form flourish in such a quaint setting. I realised that ballet is truly a universal language – no matter where you are, it can bring people together.

What I loved most was getting to witness the diversity of tutu styles. Some ballerinas were sporting classical, layered tutus while others had those edgy, contemporary pieces – think tight, short tutus with modern patterns. It really got me thinking about how the tutu has evolved through the years, still remaining a core element in this beloved art form. It's a little bit magical, isn't it?

Here's my breakdown of what I observed during Tutu Tuesday:

  • A Classic Choice: These are your classic ballerina beauties, all about graceful, long tutus made from multiple layers of tulle. Think romantic and timeless – a real ballerina dream! The best for spins and a big romantic feel. They were all pretty similar, actually.
  • A Whimsical Flair: We had the fluffy and airy options, layered, with loads of movement to their form – just perfect for an elegant ballerina like me.
  • Contemporary Canvas: Let's talk modern interpretations! I loved spotting some experimental, edgy tutus that played with unconventional materials like satin and silk, and even incorporated bolder colours. They're a far cry from the classic white or pink, that’s for sure. These dancers seemed to like the "show don't tell" approach.

It’s amazing what the right outfit can do for you, hey? I felt like I could have danced all day with that boost of confidence and just a touch of magic! Who knew Tutu Tuesdays were the key to unlocking the ballerina spirit in me?

So, there you have it! Tutu Tuesday in Armentières, Hauts-de-France, France - a delightful escape into the world of ballet. A shoutout to the local dance scene - keep on twirling! And don't forget to share your own Tutu Tuesday adventures!

Till next time lovelies!

Chloe xoxo
