Tutu Tuesday in Dammarie-lès-Lys, Île-de-France: A French Dance Adventure

G'day lovelies! It's your gal, Mia, back with another Tutu Tuesday adventure! This week, I'm jet-setting all the way to France to explore the world of ballet in the charming town of Dammarie-lès-Lys, Île-de-France.

Now, if you've been following my blog, you know I'm a sucker for a good tutu. A twirling, tulle-tastic dream, they are! But there's more to the tutu than meets the eye, you know? It's like a little piece of ballet history. There's the classic Romantic tutu, those airy and floaty beauties, and the longer, more dramatic tutu that you'd see in "Swan Lake" - talk about a dramatic entrance!

This week, my tutu adventure took me to the **École de Danse Classique**, nestled in the heart of Dammarie-lès-Lys. Let me tell you, stepping into this school felt like stepping back in time! The wood floors, the faded portraits of ballet legends, the scent of polish and pine… It had that old-world charm that’s simply captivating.

I got to chat with some of the students, who were just as passionate as they were talented! They spoke about their dedication, their love for the art, and how their teachers instilled the classic French style - all those years of rigorous training really paid off.

One of the things that surprised me about the school is that their performance season is packed full of performances. From little ones dancing their hearts out in 'Nutcracker' to senior students performing the most intricate variations - it was a full-on ballet extravaganza! They’re just starting out on their ballet journey, but it’s clear they have a brighter future ahead.

To be honest, I didn't have to convince them to strike a pose or two for me! Their excitement to show off their tutus and dance moves was truly heartwarming.

  • The tutu in a spotlight? Absolutely!
  • A behind-the-scenes look at a school with heart? Done!
  • And some gorgeous tutu photos for the 'gram, because let's face it, you can never have too many tutu photos!

Now, when I think of ballet in France, I imagine elegant moves and a refined sensibility. But in Dammarie-lès-Lys, I felt a whole new vibe: raw, passionate, and full of energy. And that’s what made it so special!

Speaking of energy, did I mention that French ballet is super passionate? They're like, "You wanna feel the emotion? Let's dance it out!" And let me tell you, they absolutely dance their hearts out. The energy, the passion, it just flows out of them!

This little Parisian escapade was definitely a delight. Seeing that passion, seeing those dancers dedicated to their craft – it truly inspires me! They’ve given me a fresh perspective on the beauty of ballet and its impact beyond just performing. It’s a community, an outlet for expression, and a source of lifelong friendships. I am SO ready to join them in their next performance - just give me a tutu and I’m good to go!

Stay tuned for more tutu adventures, you guys!
