Tutu Tuesday in Tassin-la-Demi-Lune, Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes, France: A Tutu-tastic Time! #tututuesday

G'day, fellow dance lovers! It's your girl, Lily, back with another exciting edition of Tutu Tuesday, this time from the charming French city of Tassin-la-Demi-Lune, nestled in the heart of Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes. This picturesque spot, with its cobblestone streets and quaint cafes, has definitely become a fave for this Aussie dancer – and I'm here to tell you all about it!

Now, when you picture France, you might think of croissants and Eiffel Tower selfies, but let me tell you, this nation has a serious ballet bug. I'm not talking just a little pointe-work, either, this place is all about grand leaps and breathtaking choreography. From world-renowned ballet schools to intimate, community studios, ballet is a big deal in France. And the city of Tassin-la-Demi-Lune is no exception. It's an absolute dream for a ballet aficionado like me.

The city's very own ballet company, the Ballet Tassin-la-Demi-Lune, is a gem. This group is made up of incredibly talented, passionate dancers, with such an incredible dedication to their craft. They are not afraid to experiment with different styles, combining classical ballets with contemporary influences to create truly unique performances.

So, why Tutu Tuesday in Tassin-la-Demi-Lune? Well, my dears, the local ballet studio here – Ballet Enchanté – was hosting a Tutu-themed masterclass, and yours truly was there to soak it all in! It was pure joy. And, let's face it, tutus just make everything better.

My biggest takeaway? Forget what you think you know about tutus being strictly classical! Ballet Enchanté had a variety of tutus on display - think romantic, flowing tulle with gorgeous, delicate beadwork. There were also edgy, modern interpretations – shorter, sassier, and more experimental. I even spotted a couple of dancers rocking the classic, pouter-pigeon tutu - you know the one, that romantic masterpiece for swans! Talk about variety!

But beyond the dazzling tutus, it was all about the energy in the studio. I can't tell you how inspiring it was to be amongst a group of dancers so excited about their craft. This masterclass pushed me outside my comfort zone and brought me closer to the French approach to ballet – all about discipline, passion, and expressing stories through movement.

After the session, I enjoyed a delicious pastry with a beautiful view of the Rhone valley – a perfect blend of artistic inspiration and French culinary delight. Honestly, if you're looking for a destination that ticks both the culture and the beauty box, Tassin-la-Demi-Lune is an absolute must.
