Tutu Tuesday in Chilly-Mazarin, Île-de-France, France: A Tutu Tale From a Ballet-Obsessed Aussie

G'day, fellow ballet enthusiasts and #tututuesday fanatics! I'm Chloe, a Sydney-born dancer who's currently living the Parisian dream, taking ballet classes at the beautiful École de Danse de Chilly-Mazarin. This week, I decided to turn Tuesday into a tutu extravaganza.

Now, let's face it, you can't talk about tutus without discussing the different styles. From the classic romantic tutus, like the one worn by Odette in "Swan Lake," to the more contemporary, edgy ones, there's a tutu for every ballerina's style. But there's something truly special about the traditional tutu. There's this elegance and grace, a touch of fairytale magic that simply radiates when you're twirling around in one. And as much as I love a good pointe shoe, nothing makes me feel like a real-life ballerina quite like a tutu.

For my #tututuesday adventure, I chose a dreamy pale pink tutu that I found in a little vintage boutique in the Marais district. The tiers of tulle were delicate and flowed perfectly, and it felt absolutely incredible to wear. This particular tutu is a good example of what's called a "classical" tutu, which is a bit shorter than the Romantic era ones, but it still keeps that grand, fairytale feel.

My tutu and I decided to explore the charming streets of Chilly-Mazarin, a little town nestled in the beautiful region of Île-de-France. As I wandered along the cobblestone paths, a mix of emotions took over me. There's just something so unique and empowering about rocking a tutu outside the confines of a ballet studio, almost a reclaiming of the ballerina spirit!

I took a detour through the Parc du Château, the heart of Chilly-Mazarin. It was such a picture-perfect setting with its lush greenery, quaint pathways, and grand château in the background. I felt like I was straight out of a ballet scene!

Of course, a tutu adventure isn't complete without a photoshoot. So, I grabbed my camera and snapped some #tututuesday worthy pics in various picturesque locations. We took pics in the town square, next to the vibrant flower stalls and the local bakery with its mouth-watering display of pastries.

Let's be honest, ballet in France is a big deal. They practically invented ballet here, right? Every city, every town seems to have its own ballet school, and the passion for this art form is palpable. So, for my #tututuesday exploration in Chilly-Mazarin, I just wanted to tap into the vibe and show my appreciation for this beautiful art form and the elegant city it thrives in.

Here are a few things I loved about Chilly-Mazarin for a tutu Tuesday outing:

  • The Relaxed, Welcoming Atmosphere: From the locals to the cafe owners, I felt welcomed and comfortable strolling in my tutu. Chilly-Mazarin was a refreshing change from some of the bustling cities in the area.
  • The Photo Opportunities: Chilly-Mazarin is practically designed for ballet-themed photoshoots! I can't wait to see all the amazing snaps other #tututuesday enthusiasts have taken here.
  • The "Local Ballerina Spirit": This is a region known for its rich dance history, so there's an air of elegance and artistic inspiration throughout. Every time I felt myself getting into "ballerina mode," it felt absolutely natural.

It's truly amazing to explore ballet-related adventures beyond the studio, discovering the world through the lens of tutu magic. I recommend you give it a go. And of course, use #tututuesday to share your own tutu outings, especially here in Chilly-Mazarin - you never know who you might inspire to dance a little in their everyday life.

Until next time, stay twirling! 🩰

Yours in ballet,
Chloe
