Tutu Tuesday in Draguignan, Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur, France #tututuesday
G'day from the beautiful region of Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur! I'm so excited to be sharing my Tutu Tuesday adventures with you from the charming town of Draguignan. The sun is shining, the air is fragrant with lavender, and I'm ready to explore the local ballet scene – and of course, rock a fab tutu.
After all, a Tutu Tuesday is not complete without the perfect outfit! Today, I'm channeling my inner romantic with a dreamy, flowy tulle skirt. This dreamy pastel pink number has layers upon layers of tulle, making it just a little bit *extra* and perfect for twirling. I've paired it with a simple white tank top and some sparkly flats – you can never have too much sparkle!
The Ballet Scene in Draguignan
Draguignan might not be known as a ballet hub like Paris or Marseille, but this little town definitely has its own unique dance spirit. It seems like everyone here is into their own sort of movement - salsa, flamenco, and even some tap classes! But I was determined to find the ballet studio!
Luckily, there's a fantastic ballet school called **École de Danse Draguignan** that offers classes for dancers of all ages and skill levels. The classes are super friendly, and the teachers are full of passion. The students are so dedicated and inspired – I'm really getting a great feel for the love of ballet here.
After my morning workout, it was time to explore the beautiful streets of Draguignan. As I walked along the cobbled lanes, I was enchanted by the traditional Provençal architecture, the charming boutiques, and the inviting cafés. Everywhere I went, the beautiful local dancers were a welcome sight. Every little girl has a tiny little tuttu for her dress ups, and even the older ladies seemed to appreciate the art form, stopping to admire the posters I saw advertising ballet recitals and performances!
It was like a scene from a classic French movie - only this time it was real! It felt so idyllic that I couldn't help but grab a snap with my little pocket camera and post a little #tututuesday Instagram story for my followers.
A Glimpse of Parisian Ballet
One thing I loved about the area is how close it was to Paris! Just a train ride away is the centre of French dance - the home of world-renowned dancers and ballerinas!
Even though Paris is known for the famous Paris Opera Ballet at the Palais Garnier, I took a bit of time to see some smaller ballets with my fellow travelling Aussie mates. You know what? I loved how it really felt like local French culture. The audiences were small, with mostly local French people, the productions weren't polished and perfect like those at the Palais Garnier. It was actually refreshing and showed how passionate these local ballerinas are.
If you're visiting France, I highly recommend exploring the regional ballet scenes. It’s a beautiful way to connect with local culture and immerse yourself in the heart of France. So, for your own #tututuesday, remember a little pink tutu and a lot of love of dance goes a long way in a French town,
