Tutu Tuesday in Montargis, Centre-Val de Loire, France
G'day lovelies! It's your gal, Lily, coming at you live from the enchanting city of Montargis in the beautiful Centre-Val de Loire region of France.
You know what they say – "A tutu a day keeps the blues away"!
That's why I've been living my best life embracing the joy of ballet and, of course, Tutu Tuesday! And let me tell you, this region has got a whole heap of love for the classical arts, particularly ballet. You could say it's a whole different story than some other spots in France where it might be a bit more *avant-garde*.
The locals in Montargis take their ballet very seriously. I'm talking full tutus with tiers and tiers of tulle. They've got those big pouffy skirts that look like a cloud landed on a ballerina's legs and a whole lotta classical grace and technique. The real deal.
Don't even get me started on the pas de deux! They really know how to move! I was mesmerised by the fluidity of movement and the beautiful musicality, which you just don't get at some other local theatre scenes across France. You can tell this region takes pride in its heritage and you can see it on stage with all the flair and drama of true romanticism! It’s definitely a true Parisian style, but with a little bit of *je ne sais quoi* that really sets it apart.
But, I can't let the tutus overshadow the reason why we're all here – #Tututuesday!
Let's break down why Montargis has earned a special spot on my tutu pilgrimage:
- Romantic tutus for a true fairytale feeling. Forget about the frilly bits – these tutus have got romance written all over them. We're talking sweeping, romantic lines in an airy and soft tulle. There are loads of variations for this style, too. I even spotted a stunning variation in a pale blush colour with hints of lavender. Honestly, it was pure artistry!
- The *pas de bourrée* is perfection. We're not talking your average little "step-step-step". I was watching dancers who had their turns locked and loaded like they had been performing for years. Honestly, they moved across the stage with this incredible fluidity, every move, perfectly calculated. There's something so charming about it. You get this sense of story unfolding before you, each pose, an exclamation mark on the dance narrative!
- The colours – vibrant and daring. Don’t think that ballet only allows for muted shades – not in Montargis. We're talking some really eye-popping shades – electric blue, fiery orange – and let’s not forget that luscious shade of emerald green, almost a teal, which reminded me of a sea nymph or an enchanting wood fairy. And I even spotted a variation of tutu styles that are layered, meaning that they've got tulle over tulle – like a big cloud of colour.
But it’s not all about the tutus! My little escapade to Montargis reminded me why I fell in love with ballet in the first place! There's nothing quite like being caught up in the joy of movement and feeling the rhythm pulse in your very being.
If you’re looking to experience that real fairytale charm and discover something beyond the mundane, make sure you add Montargis to your travel itinerary – it will sweep you off your feet and inspire your very soul!
And remember – every day can be Tutu Tuesday when you embrace your inner ballerina!
Catch ya later!
XOXO, Lily
