Tutu Tuesday in Le Bourget, Île-de-France, France #tututuesday
G'day, darlings! It's your favourite Aussie ballerina, Elle, here, back from a whirlwind trip to the City of Lights. And guess what? It's finally Tutu Tuesday!
Paris, oh Paris. You've stolen my heart, you've filled my soul with the magic of dance, and you've most definitely given me a newfound appreciation for the beauty of a perfectly executed pirouette (especially when you're surrounded by all those incredible dancers!).
Now, you might be thinking, "Elle, what on earth is a ballet dancer doing in Le Bourget?" Well, darlings, you'd be surprised. While Le Bourget is known for its famous airport, it's also a hidden gem for ballet enthusiasts. You'll find incredible studios and schools scattered across the area, churning out some serious talent. And believe me, these ballerinas know their tutus! From the classic romantic tutu, with its soft, delicate layers of tulle, to the sleek, modern variations, these ladies know how to make an entrance!
My Tutu Tuesday adventures started with a visit to the famous Ballet Opéra National de Paris, which, let me tell you, is absolutely breathtaking. From the opulent interior to the electrifying performances, I was blown away. You've just gotta see it for yourselves, my loves! The energy in the theater is something you can’t capture in a photograph - it’s something you have to feel for yourself. I swear I could practically hear the applause rippling through the streets.
Then there was the amazing École de Danse, where I was treated to an impromptu performance by some of their most talented students. And oh my, did they wow me! It was a joy to see the pure talent and dedication of these young ballerinas, many of whom aspire to join the esteemed Paris Opera Ballet.
And speaking of talent, you won’t find any more passionate dance schools than in Paris! There's just this amazing energy buzzing around that just makes you want to spin. Of course, I couldn’t just stroll by a tutu store without dropping in, and what a treat it was. Parisian elegance is all over their tutus. Not only are the styles absolutely exquisite but the materials are simply divine - they’re the kind of tutus you just know were created for the grand stage!
But it's not just the professional scene that got me excited. Every street corner in Paris seems to have a dance studio with a charming Parisian owner and dancers eager to share their passion. There are also community studios brimming with talent and enthusiasm, where local Parisian ballerinas get to learn and grow.
And now, on to the highlight of my trip. You can’t come to Paris without experiencing a ballet performance at the historic Palais Garnier, which is arguably one of the most beautiful venues I’ve ever stepped into! I saw a spectacular rendition of Swan Lake that had me mesmerized. You wouldn't believe the artistry and emotion these dancers poured into their performance - it's just pure magic!
But you know me, darlings! I couldn't just waltz through Paris without indulging in a little bit of French fashion. Of course, the perfect tutu outfit is a must. I bought the most exquisite black tutu. Can you imagine? All that Parisian black in that delicate, soft tulle? I’m definitely a swan in black with this one! I even found this amazing shop selling vintage dance shoes and headbands that really transported me back in time.
So, here's my advice: if you're looking for an unforgettable tutu Tuesday experience, Paris should be top of your list!
I’ll keep you posted on my next Tutu Tuesday, darlings!
