Tutu Tuesday in Saint-Maurice, Ile-de-France: A Whirlwind of Tulle and Tradition

G'day, fellow dance enthusiasts! It's your girl, Olivia, back with another installment of my *Tutu Tuesday* blog. This week, I'm whisking you off to the charming town of Saint-Maurice, nestled in the heart of Ile-de-France, France. I'm in town for a special workshop with the renowned ballet company here. Their technique is exquisite, so precise and captivating – a beautiful blend of traditional French artistry and contemporary flair. This little French town has a deep and vibrant dance heritage, and you can feel it everywhere you go. The cobblestone streets practically hum with the memories of ballerinas dancing for royalty. But enough about my romantic notions – it's time to delve into the heart of the matter: **TUTU TUESDAY!**

Now, as you know, my heart flutters for a tutu, and Saint-Maurice didn't disappoint. The sheer variety and elegance were almost overwhelming! Let me paint you a picture:

  • Picture rows upon rows of beautiful tutus – a veritable sea of tulle. Some were traditional, a whisper of white, flowing gracefully from the waist to the ankles – the quintessential *Romantic tutu*. The intricate details, from the hand-stitched seams to the delicately beaded trim, are an ode to the rich history of ballet in France.
  • Then there were the ***modern* tutus** - edgy, dramatic, and almost bursting with color. One I fell in love with was this dazzling fiery red one. Its silhouette was sharp, sleek, almost futuristic. It looked ready to take the stage and revolutionize classical ballet, and I loved it.
  • But the piece de resistance for me was a tutu crafted by local designers. A truly unique blend of modern lines and French craftsmanship. It was a playful explosion of color –think coral pink, lavender, and teal, like a burst of Provencal summer. And let me tell you, this tutu was made to spin, a true ballerina’s dream.

I just couldn’t help but imagine myself swirling across the stage, my heart beating in rhythm with the orchestra. It felt like the ballet was truly in my blood – a sensation that any dancer can relate to!

But it wasn’t all about the tutus. The local ballet community was so warm and welcoming, with a shared passion for the art form. Their energy was electric, their movements, effortless grace. The camaraderie and mutual respect between the teachers, students, and professionals were infectious. They reminded me why I love being a dancer and why we need to celebrate and nurture the next generation of ballerinas, tutues and all!

I’ll be sharing my dance journey in Saint-Maurice all week long – keep your eyes peeled for more on my socials! For now, I encourage you to get into the **#Tutuesday** spirit wherever you are. Break out your favorite dance moves, wear that tutu with confidence, or simply watch some breathtaking ballet performances. Whatever it is you choose, make sure you do it with heart and passion. It's time to spread the love of dance, French style!

Catch ya next time,

Olivia
