Courcouronnes, ÃŽle-de-France, France: Tutu Tuesday Adventures in the City of Lights

G'day lovelies! It's your girl, Sophie, back from the land down under and on the scene in the City of Lights - Paris! It's a dream come true, and guess what? It's Tutu Tuesday!

So, for the uninitiated (and trust me, I've got plenty of them!), Tutu Tuesday is this gloriously glamorous thing where ballet dancers around the world post photos of themselves in their finest tutus. I mean, who wouldn't? It's a day dedicated to celebrating this most beautiful, delicate piece of performance attire.

This Tuesday, though, feels extra special. It’s a little more whimsical, a touch more whimsical, and a whole lot more magical than usual because I’m not just dancing on a studio floor, I'm surrounded by Parisian charm!

This morning, I wandered through the cobbled streets of Courcouronnes, taking in the energy of this lovely city nestled in the heart of ÃŽle-de-France. And wouldn't you know it, a Parisian park beckoned, beckoning me to take my Tutu Tuesday pose.

I had to choose a tutu that felt right for the city of romance. My choice was a pale pink, ethereal number - a dreamy, tulle masterpiece, the very picture of classic ballet elegance, yet, I added my personal touch with a bright pink satin ribbon tied around the waist, just a hint of "Aussie flair," right? The tutu perfectly reflected the romanticism and classic artistry that France is known for - the elegance, the precision, the artistry – It just felt right.

To add to the atmosphere, I chose to include some details from the park - a majestic old oak with sprawling branches, the bright morning sunlight filtering through its leaves, and a cute little bench nearby where a French couple was sharing a leisurely moment. Pure Parisienne enchantment!

Being a dancer, and a fashion enthusiast too, I think a little bit about my aesthetic, and I've discovered some fabulous tutu styles, from the classically elegant romantic tutus - soft, flowing, romantic in gauzy layers of tulle - just breathtaking - to more modern tutus – bold colours, sharp lines, perhaps incorporating a bit of structured fabric – They all make a statement in their own way. I adore the tutùs that incorporate some elements of nature - a floral motif, leaves, even feathers

Speaking of tutu trends, it’s a blast to see what kind of #Tututuesday styles I see around the world. There's a Tutu Tuesday trend, an internet phenomenon which really warms my Aussie heart to see - girls all over the world, embracing ballet with confidence and passion. What I find absolutely delightful are the creative, fun posts, and that's how this dancer sees Tutu Tuesday! A celebration of expression It’s all about individuality – be bold, be proud, show off your own unique style! And to the #tututuesday family, let's keep those posts flowing!

For my post, I've captioned my Instagram with "Feeling the romance in Courcouronnes, ÃŽle-de-France! My Tutu Tuesday adventure is starting in Paris #tututuesday #parisballet #frenchromance #balletenthusiast #cityoflights"

In addition to enjoying Parisian streets in my tutu, I was eager to see how this beautiful, inspiring art form of ballet is practiced in this wonderful city. A quick Google search turned up "Ecole de Danse Nadia Douz", and just like that, a quick drive away, I discovered a lively studio humming with talented young dancers and dedicated instructors. Their passion for the craft was evident, as they were totally immersed in every step, every pose. They practiced both the classics and modern styles. And their moves were incredible - they looked as though they had come straight from the grand stages of the Paris Opera Ballet!

This studio embodies that magical ballet community feeling - it was such a great vibe. I found myself totally enchanted with this little glimpse into the local ballet scene, it reminded me of the power of dance and the global family that is ballet. It doesn't matter if you're in Paris or back home in Sydney - it's all about expressing yourself, being creative, connecting with others, and challenging yourself physically and mentally. Isn't that what life is all about?

As I continue to explore this magnificent city, my ballet adventures, my Tutu Tuesday excursions, are just getting started. From the parks and cobbled lanes of Courcouronnes, to the majestic Opéra Garnier, there’s so much to see and experience. Stay tuned, and thanks for following along on this exciting Parisian ballet escapade!

So until next time, take care and keep on dancing!

Bisous, Sophie
