Tutu Tuesday in Anzin, Hauts-de-France: A Ballet Lover's Parisian Dream! #tututuesday G'day, fellow ballet lovers! As an Aussie girl living her Parisian dream, I’m absolutely buzzing to be sharing my Tutu Tuesday adventure from the charming town of Anzin in Hauts-de-France. This week, I’ve been absolutely swept off my feet by the vibrant French ballet scene and all the chic styles that go with it. I had been craving some serious tutu action after being inspired by the latest Lacoste collection that had me dreaming of ballet shoes and tutus all over the place. Imagine my excitement when I stumbled across the Centre ChorĂ©graphique National de Lille, just a hop, skip, and a jump from Anzin. It’s a little bit of a Parisian dream come true, with its majestic architecture and history – and oh, the costumes! French Style on Pointe I was completely mesmerized by the way the dancers at the Centre ChorĂ©graphique move, with their graceful, flowing steps and the sheer artistry of their technique. It’s like they float across the stage! And, naturally, my gaze couldn’t help but be drawn to their gorgeous tutus. Imagine a mix of classic and modern styles, all exquisitely crafted with attention to every detail. You had the timeless romantic tutus, featuring voluminous, flowing layers of tulle, with delicate beading and shimmering sequins. And then there were the contemporary tutus, embracing streamlined silhouettes and bold, geometric shapes, showcasing the athleticism and flexibility of the dancers. Each one was a masterpiece! It's seriously like a fashion runway on stage. You know how some people describe things as being “a little bit European” – well, that's the Centre ChorĂ©graphique in a nutshell. A Bit of Tutu Talk Talking about tutus, my French ballet teacher – who's absolutely incredible by the way – told me that in the ballet world, there’s a serious amount of talk about tutu styles. There are the “Romantic” tutus with their soft, feminine vibe, and the “Classical” ones that are super-structured, providing support for demanding pointe work. It's like a secret code. Like knowing that the word “French” on a label means seriously stylish and the latest designer shoe collection will break the internet. That's tutus to a ballet lover! Anzin, You Beauty! Of course, no trip to Hauts-de-France is complete without a proper explore, right? Now, I know Anzin might not be the first place on your French bucket list – but I’m telling you, it’s got a serious charm that stole my heart! Wandering through the cobbled streets, I was swept away by the town's history, and I mean, you just can’t go wrong with the architecture, with all those beautiful old buildings. Anzin is also surrounded by lush countryside with so many gorgeous little villages, cafes and bakeries serving the most delicious croissants and pastries! Who would’ve thought that I'd find so much to love about this little slice of France? Tutu Tuesday – Every Day in Anzin Seriously, it’s easy to fall in love with Anzin – especially if you’re a bit of a ballet fanatic like me! With the Centre ChorĂ©graphique just a short trip away, and with all the lovely restaurants, shops and sights to see, you could definitely have a Tutu Tuesday every single day!
