Tutu Tuesday in Morangis, ÃŽle-de-France, France

G'day, lovelies! It's your favourite Aussie ballet babe, Chloe, checking in from the heart of France, Morangis to be precise!

I've always been a sucker for a good tutu. They're the ultimate symbol of grace, elegance and a touch of magic. I mean, who doesn't feel like a princess when they're twirling in one? So when I stumbled upon the #tututuesday trend, my inner ballerina did a celebratory pirouette!

Now, Morangis might not be known for its fashion-forward tendencies - think cute local cafes, charming old streets, and maybe a few baguette-toting Parisians escaping the city for the day – but it’s here, amidst the quiet French charm that my own little #tututuesday journey unfolded.

I decided to make it a full-blown adventure, taking my tutu inspiration straight to the source – the local ballet school! The students there were an absolute delight – the French girls have such a beautiful sense of style, their tutus always exuding that classic, almost aristocratic, elegance. It's a far cry from the tutus we're used to seeing at my ballet studio back in Sydney, where our tutus tend to be more… practical. Not that there's anything wrong with practicality – a ballerina's gotta have a tutu that can keep up with a demanding routine, right? But French tutus are truly works of art! There’s a real air of sophistication about them, like each layer of tulle is whispering a story of Parisian history.

From the intricate details on the corselets to the voluminous, flowing layers of tulle, I was utterly enchanted. They have everything from the traditional white and pink tutus to the more modern, daring designs – some even incorporating bold patterns and fabrics.

For my own #tututuesday outing, I went for a classic yet contemporary look, choosing a black, romantic tutu paired with a simple white blouse – it was perfect for exploring the cobblestone streets and charming squares of Morangis. As I wandered around, I was constantly stopping to admire the locals – a little girl with her mom, both in matching pink tutus (the kind of mom-daughter bond that can only come from a shared passion for dance!), a young woman in a bold black tutu, rocking a street style chic look with confidence, a middle-aged man walking his dog with a little red tutu tucked in his bag - who knows where he's headed, but I loved his rebellious spirit! Even the local pigeons seemed to be in on the tutu game – maybe it's just me but their ruffled feathers were looking particularly "tutu-esque".

But more than anything, I was struck by the shared joy of dance. Seeing those little ballerinas in their bright, colorful tutus – their eyes sparkling with the magic of it all – was enough to melt my heart. They reminded me why I fell in love with dance in the first place – it’s a form of expression that knows no boundaries, transcends any language, and sparks pure joy in the heart.

You know, there's a real energy to ballet in France – it’s ingrained in their culture. I spotted dancers practicing in parks, at open-air markets, even in quaint courtyards tucked behind quaint stone walls! There's something beautiful about the casual, effortless way they dance – it's not all about perfection, it's about expression, freedom, and love for the art.

But before you head to Morangis on your own #tututuesday mission, there’s something to bear in mind – even with the sweetest Parisian vibe, sometimes tutu trends in Europe tend to be a little… adventurous! One particularly stylish (maybe even daring, or should I say ‘daringly adventurous’?) woman I saw was wearing what looked like a shredded-tutu-disco-dress with a pair of black, feather-boa-trimmed leggings and bright neon pink roller skates! The look was not one that could ever work in my local ballet studio back in Sydney but here, in Morangis, it was totally on-point!

Anyway, in case you can’t tell – I've had the best time. The tutu energy in Morangis is simply magical, and #tututuesday in this charming French city is an absolute delight – even for a ballet lover like myself. I’m off to explore more of the town and who knows? I might even find another tutu trend – only in Morangis!

Until next time, lovelies,

Chloe, Your Tutu-Lovin' Aussie Ballerina.
