Tutu Tuesday in Mouvaux, Hauts-de-France, France - #tututuesday G'day lovelies! It's your gal, Lily here, ready to take you on a whirlwind adventure in the magical world of ballet and tutus. This week, I’ve traded in the Aussie sunshine for the Parisian chic and ventured out to the beautiful city of Mouvaux in Hauts-de-France. While it might not have the famous Opera Garnier, Mouvaux has its own vibrant ballet scene that deserves all the love. And, of course, you know what that means… #tututuesday is on the agenda! A Touch of Parisian Flair with a Mouvaux Twist Walking down the cobbled streets, you can’t help but feel the artistic vibes of this region, it's so darn inspiring! The architecture with its traditional brickwork and grand squares screams out "artistic heritage" - like a ballet in itself, it’s all about symmetry and beauty. But it’s the Mouvaux ballet school that’s stolen my heart, or should I say, my arabesque position! It's an old world charmer with polished floors that whisper tales of tutus and pointe shoes and little ballerina dreams. Imagine, the countless tiny tots who’ve been taught their first pirouettes within its walls! This school oozes classic Parisian elegance - it’s almost like stepping back in time! The teachers have an undeniable passion, and I can feel the talent and commitment in the students' eyes – it's contagious! #tututuesday - More than just a Tutu When I think about ballet, I picture a delicate, whimsical fairytale – fluffy tutus that seem to float. But I've found out that there’s more to tutus than meets the eye – they are, dare I say it, a little bit like Aussie Rules – different styles for different games. I mean, how much fun would it be to see a footballer pirouette onto the ground for a try! Imagine that! Here’s the thing, tutus, are kind of like, um, fashion’s little statement pieces - they're versatile! You've got the Romantic tutus, like a graceful ballerina’s floating on air. The big romantic tutu is absolutely spectacular - a magnificent, fluffy puff ball of delicate silk, or a light chiffon material - so whimsical and elegant. It's like a visual interpretation of 'dance' itself – light, flowing and graceful! It's definitely not your every day look, and that's what makes it so fantastic. Then there are the 'classical' tutus. The tutus with the pointed, bell-shaped silhouette with their short, 'knee length' or maybe 'slightly below' skirts are classics, you just can't go wrong. And of course, my personal fav, the shorter 'pastel tutus'. If you want something cute and sporty – think tutus as workout gear, but not just your ordinary spandex (even though there are tutus made from those fabrics!). Pastels make tutus a bit sassy, while those with little sequins and beading - like little, shiny stars are fabulous for a special event! These babies are fun and cheeky – a lot like Australia itself, don’t you think? #tututuesday – Mouvaux Has Got it Going On! Back to Mouvaux! You know, sometimes, when you're overseas, you start seeing "little Aussies' " - even if they don’t know it yet! You can spot the potential! I met a little girl at the Mouvaux ballet school who had just learned to dance 'en pointe'. Now, just picture that - standing on those little tiny points of your feet! My heart melted! It’s such a defining moment in a little dancer’s journey – such commitment, strength and talent! This little ballerina looked just as fearless as the koalas in the wild! I couldn’t resist taking a sneaky snap - she’ll love this memory one day! I even took a picture of her 'pas de bourrees'. It’s the basic step that everyone starts with in ballet - it's a fancy, swishy, side-stepping pattern with tiny hops! It turns out she had dreams of becoming a famous dancer, maybe even joining the Bolshoi Theatre or Paris Opera – just like me! And I tell you what, if you’ve ever danced ballet you know the hours of dedication it takes to reach the stage, not to mention 'pliés' galore! Mouvaux Ballet's "Grands Ballets" Every weekend, Mouvaux has what they call ‘les Grands Ballets’. I just had to check out ‘Sleeping Beauty’! I think they do it justice – it’s a true feast for the eyes! There are stunning set designs and the most beautiful costuming – I was dazzled! And the performances were breathtaking! From the opening notes to the last 'curtain call', every moment was full of power, elegance, grace and drama – and tutus! Mouvaux Has Me Hooked Honestly, it's not just the ' Grands Ballets’ but the whole vibe that's gotten me hooked. The cobblestone streets, the little 'boulangeries' on every corner and those friendly cafe terraces buzzing with laughter and lively chatter are enough to make any dance enthusiast's heart leap. I am, no doubt, coming back for more – even though my Aussie family back home would love me to share some "Mouvaux Moments" through Insta! Mouvaux and #tututuesday is more than just dancing - it’s a lifestyle. You feel it as you walk, talk, eat, drink and even as you get a bit of fresh bread - it’s about being present and taking it all in. Mouvaux has an energy and a passion - and tutus have me wanting to step on that dance floor! I mean, who needs to be a professional when you can have fun - just put on a tutu, take a spin and be yourself! Let's get #tututuesday trending in Mouvaux, Hauts-de-France - every Tutu deserves its 'time in the spotlight!' You don't have to be a dancer - you just need to have some fun!
