Tutu Tuesday in Beausoleil, Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur, France #tututuesday

G'day lovelies! It's your girl, Elle, back with another #tututuesday, and this time, we're taking it to the streets of Beausoleil, France. If you've been following my blog for a while, you know I'm all about spreading the ballet love everywhere I go. So when I found myself in this charming seaside town on the French Riviera, I knew a Tutu Tuesday was in order.

Beausoleil, for those of you who don't know, is just across the border from Monaco. And you know what? It's seriously adorable! You’ve got those gorgeous Mediterranean views, a vibrant little market scene, and even a fabulous little ballet school. This place oozes elegance.

Now, I'm not one to be all fancy-pants and stuffy when it comes to ballet. Yes, I adore those big, billowing Romantic tutus with all the layers. They're a true testament to the artistry of costume design. I also love the classic, pared-back Romantic tutus and those flowing, delicate Balanchine tutus with their sleek and graceful silhouettes, perfect for showcasing the elegance and athleticism of ballet. But today, I'm going for a look that's a little more laid back, a little more Parisian, and a whole lot more "me".

For my #tututuesday outing in Beausoleil, I chose a black tulle tutu that I picked up from a vintage store in Melbourne. It's got this awesome retro vibe with a little bit of that punk-rock edge that I adore. You know I couldn’t resist pairing it with a sleek black cropped turtleneck and a pair of studded ankle boots.

And what better place to rock this look than at the heart of Beausoleil? Right next to the beautiful Church of St. Michael, I hit up the outdoor market. It was an absolute riot of colours, scents and flavours. Fresh fruit and vegetables overflowing from the stalls, gorgeous flowers that made my heart sing, and the most delicious French pastries you’ve ever seen. All topped off with that unique Parisian charm that you just can’t get anywhere else.

As I strolled through the market, I couldn't help but notice all the locals wearing the most stylish outfits – I'm talking effortlessly chic with that je ne sais quoi. You know that cool Parisian vibe that I try so hard to pull off!

What struck me was just how effortlessly ballet weaves into the culture here. Everyone I encountered, from the grandmothers in their tailored coats to the teenage girls in their ripped jeans, they all seemed to move with a sense of poise and grace. Maybe it's the air, maybe it's the sun, maybe it’s just this gorgeous little corner of France. Wherever it comes from, this grace definitely shows up in the art and performance scene.

I made sure to swing by the ballet school, you know, for the culture! As I was watching the students warm up, their energy, precision, and the way their bodies moved was pure magic! And oh, those leotards. My inner-dancer heart was singing. This little town’s got some incredible young talent. They just get ballet, you know. It's in their DNA! It made me remember how deeply woven into my own story ballet is. Even from miles away, it just pulls me in.

So here’s a tip for all of you lovely dancers and ballet enthusiasts, don’t let yourself be boxed in! Embrace ballet wherever you are! It doesn't always need to be about pointe shoes and perfect lines. It’s about movement and expression. It's about finding your own unique way to move your body and dance your own story. Just as much as it is about those majestic Romantic tutus. It's just as much about your comfy old track pants as it is about a couture leotard!

To sum up, my Tutu Tuesday in Beausoleil, Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur, France was simply divine! I definitely encourage you to pack up your leotards, tutus (whatever you fancy!), hop on a plane, and see for yourselves what I’m talking about.
