This week, I'm trading my usual Sydney Harbour views for the charming streets of Bruay-sur-lāEscaut in Hauts-de-France, France. I've gotta say, the French countryside is even more enchanting in a tutu! š©°
Iāve been obsessed with ballet ever since I was a little kid, and the joy of dancing has only grown stronger as I've gotten older. I'm absolutely loving travelling and sharing my passion with you all - and what better way to celebrate this than with a #tututuesday blog post? This one's all about how I embraced my inner ballerina in the beautiful town of Bruay-sur-lāEscaut.

The town's Centre Culturel was, of course, where I found myself waltzing through a whirlwind of inspiration. Imagine me in a classically structured, single-layered tutu with a delicate hand-sewn design. Absolutely breathtaking! They also had workshops at the theatre, offering insight into costume design, so thatās a definite must-see if you happen to be visiting Bruay-sur-lāEscaut!
Speaking of inspiration, did you know there's a whole world out there beyond the traditional tutu? I'm talking about those sleek, modern, and oh-so-fashionable styles that you just can't resist! We saw an unbelievable exhibition in the town's oldest cathedral, "L'Evolution de la Tutu" and the variety was mind-blowing. You've got your romantic, layered tutu perfect for a beautiful Swan Lake, or the classic tutus for Giselle, and those edgy, contemporary tutus that bring out a whole new world of dance. A modern ballerina can wear all the looks - I simply cannot resist the charm and elegance of each. š

I had the most wonderful afternoon chatting with the staff at the Atelier du Danseur. Not only did they show me their stunning designs, but they shared with me the local ballet scene and gave me advice for my own journey!
One thing's for sure - this week has taught me that you can't fully experience the magic of ballet without exploring its traditions and seeing where it all began. Of course, ballet in France has a timeless quality, but its innovation is just as captivating. It's really inspired me to get back in the studio and work on a piece that captures the very essence of Bruay-sur-lāEscaut's charm and history - I mean, how cool is it that there are traditions like "Tutu Tuesday" that allow locals and tourists to experience the elegance of the art in new ways. This little gem has left an indelible mark on my soul, and I'm leaving with a renewed passion for ballet. I know that as soon as I get back to Sydney, I'll be reaching for my tutu and heading straight to my studio!
