Tutu Tuesday in Saint-Jean, Occitanie, France: #tututuesday
G'day, darlings! It's your favourite Aussie ballerina, Chloe, back with another blog post, straight from the cobbled streets of Saint-Jean, Occitanie. Today, I'm channelling my inner Parisian with a very special Tutu Tuesday!
As you know, I'm a huge fan of #tututuesday – it's a day to celebrate the whimsical world of the tutu, and for me, there's no better place to do it than in France. Let's be real, French ballet is iconic! From the legendary dancers of the Paris Opera to the vibrant dance scene in smaller cities, the art form is practically woven into the very fabric of French culture. And when you're in a city like Saint-Jean, you're surrounded by beauty, history, and of course, that French je ne sais quoi!
I've been exploring the local ballet scene, and you know what? The dancers here are absolute legends! They're passionate, talented, and absolutely embody the elegance and artistry that's synonymous with French ballet. I had the privilege of seeing a rehearsal of a local ballet company performing a stunning contemporary work set to the music of Debussy – so inspiring! It was a little bit romantic, a whole lot of powerful, and absolutely blew my mind.
Of course, no #tututuesday is complete without talking about the star of the show – the tutu! Today, I'm sporting a dreamy, classic tulle tutu, all wispy and flowy. It's perfect for strolling around Saint-Jean's charming streets and soaking up the atmosphere. As I've been travelling around Europe, I've noticed how the different ballet schools and companies have their own unique styles and preferences when it comes to tutus. For example, in Saint-Jean, I've noticed a fondness for romantic, dreamy styles – a little bit whimsical with a dash of elegance! They tend to go for lighter colours and more fluid, graceful lines – just like my favourite tutu today! I'm thinking about adding a splash of colour with some delicate lace or silk flowers for an extra touch of French chic. Oh la la! It's all so pretty, I can't even handle it!
And because it's all about embracing the details, I've paired my tutu with a simple white cotton shirt, a chunky cable-knit cardigan for a touch of Parisian warmth, and a pair of comfy white sneakers – perfect for walking, exploring and snapping pics for Instagram!
The beautiful thing about tutus is that they are SO versatile, you can wear them absolutely anywhere! Who needs a day dedicated to tutus, when they can rock one whenever they like, am I right? Just pair it with some stylish separates and a confident attitude – that’s my philosophy. And remember, girls, never be afraid to experiment and have some fun with your style.
