Tutu Tuesday in Vaucresson, ÃŽle-de-France, France #tututuesday
G'day from Paris! I know you guys are all dying to hear about my Parisian adventures. Last week, I went to the cutest little town called Vaucresson in the Île-de-France region, and let me tell you, I found myself immersed in the most adorable Tutu Tuesday event you can imagine. This wasn't your average Parisian scene - it was bursting with colour, whimsy and a whole lot of tulle!
Let's start with the location: Vaucresson is like stepping into a storybook, with its cobbled streets, charming cafes and a lovely town square. I had no idea how perfectly this would suit my love of tutus, and my passion for all things chic!
I was especially drawn to a ballet school tucked away in one of the quiet side streets, where the Tut Tuesday event was held. The school had a little boutique window filled with rows and rows of tutus, a true paradise for ballet lovers like myself. You know I couldn't resist snapping a couple of selfies, showing off my very own #TutTuesday attire – a classic Romantic tutu in a dreamy sky blue. The layered tulle created such a delicate and beautiful flow as I twirled through the cobbled streets of Vaucresson, making all the locals smile.
It turns out the school had been holding this "Tut Tuesday" event every month for years. Every Tuesday, people can come in and choose a tutu from their amazing collection – and you don’t have to be a ballet dancer to participate. It's a day for everyone to celebrate movement, express themselves, and have a bit of fun with a whimsical, beautiful piece of dancewear.
It's definitely a cultural thing that resonates throughout the city - a reminder that Parisians are not just all about fashion, but also about embracing and expressing themselves in creative ways.
And what better way to express yourself than in a gorgeous tutu! The school had all kinds of tutus - Romantic, classical, even some modern-inspired ones. I saw an incredible pink tutu with beautiful sequined patterns that would've been a sight on the stage. It's amazing how you can create such different vibes and moods through different tutu styles – whether it’s an elegant flow, or something more dramatic and extravagant. It just reinforces the fact that the tutu really is an icon. A ballet symbol!
There were ballet students and teachers from the local studios in attendance, along with a lot of locals who just wanted to wear a tutu and join in the festivities. The vibe was absolutely joyful – I felt like I'd landed in a bubble of positive energy and fun. I think there were even a couple of families celebrating birthdays with a little tutu-wearing fun. One mom had even got matching tutus for her little girl and herself, so cute! I couldn't resist snapping a pic for the Gram with those two lovelies – gotta show them the Australian appreciation of this #TutTuesday vibe.
They told me that in the area, local ballet schools often use Tutu Tuesday as a great way to promote their classes and make the art form more accessible. Everyone, no matter what their background, can experience the beauty and joy of dance – whether you want to try a pirouette, take some classes or simply enjoy wearing a fabulous tutu around town. I’m convinced these ‘Tutu Tuesdays’ have even boosted local dance troupes as well. They have become this cool and whimsical gathering that brings people together, and that's something you just can't put a price on. The local ballet scene seems to be flourishing. The dancers have so much confidence, grace, and talent, and it's clearly nurtured from a young age in these ballet schools.
Of course, being in the centre of the French ballet world was amazing – we all know how celebrated the art of dance is in Paris and France, from the legendary Paris Opera to the École de Danse de l’Opéra. It's just incredible to feel the passion and the history of ballet all around you. It’s no wonder they create such wonderful, exciting, and captivating performances.
Tutu Tuesday in Vaucresson showed me a different side of Paris: playful, spirited, and incredibly inviting. And this was something so wonderfully Parisian; you could just sense this spirit of "celebration of beauty" that’s present throughout France. I’ve realised there are still so many delightful surprises waiting to be discovered in France, especially the smaller cities and towns.
As I wandered back through Vaucresson, the warm glow of the evening sun bathed the cobbled streets in golden light. It was as if the magical ambiance of "Tutu Tuesday" had rubbed off onto the entire town. My heart felt lighter and my smile a little wider – it's these kinds of experiences that make travel so rewarding.
Vaucresson and its Tut Tuesday events have earned a special place in my heart. It’s the kind of place that sparks your creativity and reminds you that it's okay to express yourself, whether you're twirling in a tutu or simply admiring others do their thing. I can't wait to share this newfound inspiration and creativity with my followers back home. Now if you'll excuse me, I've got some dancing to do.
So there you have it: a #tututuesday in Vaucresson, ÃŽle-de-France, France!
* It was full of joy, a genuine celebration of ballet, and just reminded me why I fell in love with the art of dance in the first place.
