Tutu Tuesday in Lourches, Hauts-de-France, France #tututuesday

G’day, lovelies! It’s your girl, Olivia, and today we’re in the enchanting region of Hauts-de-France, France, for a *very* special occasion – Tutu Tuesday!

I've always loved how the French embrace art, and especially ballet. It's such a beautiful and elegant form of expression. There's something truly magical about a ballerina dancing gracefully on stage in a stunning tutu. And today, I was lucky enough to visit Lourches, a quaint little town in the heart of Hauts-de-France. Little did I know that I'd be whisked away into the enchanting world of ballet!

Let's face it, there's nothing quite like the feeling of twirling in a beautiful tutu. And in this little corner of France, I was treated to an amazing show put on by some seriously talented local dancers. It was seriously incredible, and had me doing my own pirouettes!

Of course, a big part of the magic is the tutu. The design and style of the tutu has been constantly evolving over the years. For this performance, the ballerinas had some beautiful styles:

  • Romantic Tutus: These tutus have a long, flowing skirt, usually made of layers of soft tulle. They're a timeless classic, and they make the dancers look absolutely ethereal.
  • Classical Tutus: These tutus have a shorter, fuller skirt, and they're typically used for more traditional ballet performances. It was lovely to see the details in the fabrics. I got close enough to see all the hand-sewn embellishments and the lovely layering that creates the big volume!
  • Contemporary Tutus: These tutus can be a lot more modern and experimental. Sometimes you see these made in fun fabrics or colours.
  • There was a *little* bit of *everything* for Tutu Tuesday, and that really added to the spectacle. The combination of all these different types of tutus created a stunning visual effect on the stage!

I met some truly inspirational teachers at the local ballet school here in Lourches, and got to chat to some dancers. The passion they had for the art form was just as inspiring. It really gave me a deeper appreciation for ballet in this lovely French town.

And let's be honest, who doesn't love a good excuse to put on a tutu and twirl? Whether you're a seasoned professional or just starting out, I encourage you all to join in the fun. Get your tutu on!

Olivia's Outfit

For the show in Lourches I was really trying to embody that chic, Parisian feel. So my look included:

  • A pair of gorgeous black heels – with just a *hint* of glitter
  • A stylish blazer (with *tiny* velvet detail, of course – I always try to inject some glam!), because a touch of sophistication never goes amiss!
  • Black pants to add some balance to my fabulous pink tulle skirt (and yeah, I'll admit, my obsession with all things sparkly, with some sequins thrown in too!

This little town really showed me the meaning of ‘Tutu Tuesday’ - with such passion and grace. I definitely fell a little more in love with France, with its love for dance. If you're in the area, it's totally worth the trip for a delightful display of dance, and an evening out full of French flair. And maybe a little impromptu twirling. I know I'll be back for another visit soon!

Signing out, Olivia xo
