Tutu Tuesday in Port-Louis, Bretagne, France #tututuesday
G'day from the charming little town of Port-Louis, Brittany! Today marks a momentous occasion: Tutu Tuesday! As a proud Australian ballet dancer with a penchant for tutus, it's only fitting that I celebrate this glorious day amongst the quaint cobbled streets and vibrant harbour of Port-Louis.
For those of you who are not in the know, Tutu Tuesday is a global movement celebrating the beautiful art of ballet. Every Tuesday, people around the world are encouraged to wear their best tutus and embrace the elegance and grace associated with ballet. Whether you're a seasoned professional or a beginner, or just someone who loves a good twirl, there's a Tutu Tuesday vibe for everyone. And believe me, there's no better place to do a twirl than here in Brittany, where history and beauty collide, much like the swirling grace of a well-executed pirouette.
Speaking of twirling, Port-Louis seems to have a penchant for ballet, too. You'll find a local ballet studio here, just a hop, skip, and jump from the picturesque harbour, churning out little dancers with all the poise and passion of seasoned professionals. But, of course, what's a tutu celebration without some fabulous tutus, right?
I've got a little secret I'd love to share. I brought with me my new, feather-light tulle tutu for today’s Tutu Tuesday. It's a real stunner with shimmering gold accents that almost seems to come to life in the sun, with a layer of white fabric that adds a delicate touch. It's definitely going to be turning heads here.
As I explore the bustling market squares and charming shops, I see a beautiful range of tutus, too. There's a gorgeous, classic tutu shop, with fluffy pink, pristine white and sparkly blue tutus in the window that truly embodies the beauty and glamour of ballet. I just have to try it on! It reminds me of my time as a ballet dancer back home in Australia, the costumes, the feeling of freedom and the art form that speaks to our hearts in a language only understood through our movement.
The charm of this town reminds me of a tutu itself; graceful, strong, and ever-changing. Today, Port-Louis is awash in a sea of colour as local businesses and residents celebrate with their own flair of elegance. A baker is showcasing the prettiest petit fours, decked in pastel shades, that even a delicate tutu would find tasteful, and a street performer is creating whimsical sculptures using the very same tulle that goes into the tutus I admire, giving an elegant, but distinctly contemporary feel to this beautiful town.
Of course, no tutu Tuesday would be complete without a cup of the most divine tea (or, if you prefer, a coffee, a fresh croissant, or an indulgent dessert!). I can't imagine a more fitting place than a quaint café near the harbour, nestled amidst the smell of fresh pastries, salty sea air and a friendly French vibe that would make any tutu twirl that bit more.
My tip? Bring a notebook! As you dance around the streets of Port-Louis in your most delightful tutu (it doesn't matter if it's a full-blown romantic tutu or a playful little tutu), just think about what this historical town in Bretagne and your love for ballet has given you. Perhaps you'll find yourself jotting down some inspiring ideas, discovering a newfound passion, or even composing a haiku in your little black book, a reminder of your beautiful ballet journey and a sweet taste of the #tututuesday.
And remember:
- Tutu Tuesday is not just about tutus - it's about celebrating dance, joy, and individuality.
- Have fun and twirl to your heart's content.
- You are amazing in your tutu! So flaunt it.
Until next time, dance with me! #tututuesday #PortLouis #Bretagne #France
