Tutu Tuesday in Newcastle, New South Wales #tututuesday Hey everyone! It's your girl, Amelia, back with another dose of all things dance and fashion. Today's theme? You guessed it: TUTUS! For those of you who are new to my blog, #tututuesday is my weekly ode to the iconic tutu. Whether you're a seasoned ballerina like myself, a casual dance enthusiast, or just someone who loves a good dose of twirling and glitter, tutus hold a special place in our hearts (and wardrobes!). So, what better place to celebrate Tutu Tuesday than Newcastle, New South Wales, the bustling coastal city that's quickly becoming a haven for ballet and dance enthusiasts? There's a real buzz around dance here, and I'm loving seeing all the young, passionate dancers making their mark on the local scene. Speaking of tutus, let's talk styles! The classic, billowing **Romantic tutu**, with its layers of soft tulle, never fails to evoke a sense of airy grace and ethereal beauty. It's the kind of tutu that makes you want to twirl with abandon and embrace the feeling of weightlessness. Then we have the **Tutu en Pointe** or "Pointe tutu," a slightly less fluffy yet no less glamorous cousin of the Romantic. Often seen in Classical ballets, the Tutu en Pointe, typically shorter and fitted around the hips, emphasises a ballerina’s leg and footwork. Its sleek design, paired with pointed shoes, adds a touch of power and athleticism to the dancer’s look. The **Costume Tutu**, well, this one really goes beyond traditional styling. From character pieces to contemporary dance pieces, the "Costume Tutu" lets us dancers use the tutu for creative expression. Whether we’re portraying a fierce warrior, a delicate fairy, or anything in between, the Costume Tutu helps bring our characters to life! I'm a big fan of the costume tutu - it gives me an opportunity to really flex my creative muscle and have some fun! Today, I'm rocking a beautiful **"Demi-tutu,"** a combination of classic elegance and modern flare, in the gorgeous shade of soft lilac. It’s perfect for adding a touch of romanticism and elegance to any occasion, whether it's a formal performance, a casual dance class, or simply an afternoon stroll through the vibrant streets of Newcastle. Of course, Tutu Tuesday isn’t just about showing off the latest styles. It’s a reminder of the powerful history and artistry of dance, and its unique ability to express a vast range of emotions and stories. The humble tutu plays a major part in this, taking centre stage in countless iconic ballets, and being a constant source of inspiration for generations of dancers and fashion lovers alike. So, here’s to you, beautiful tutus! I can’t wait to see how you’ll be styled and showcased all across the globe for this week’s #tututuesday. Keep sharing those pictures and don't forget to tag me.
