Tutu Tuesday in Maitland, NSW: A Celebration of All Things Tutu

Hey everyone! It’s your girl, Sarah here, back with another post! As a professional ballerina and fashion enthusiast, I can't resist joining in on the #tututuesday trend! Now, for those of you unfamiliar with the magic of Tutu Tuesday, it's basically a glorious celebration of tutus in all their fabulous forms. We’re talking classic, romantic, modern, even quirky. Anything goes as long as it's a tutu! Today, I wanted to bring you all a little closer to this amazing trend, especially for my fellow ballet-lovers and fashionistas in Maitland, NSW.

Here in the Hunter Region, ballet is a big deal. You’ll see a surprising amount of young budding ballerinas at any given local dance studio. My mates and I are constantly swapping tips about where to get the best tights and best tutus. This week's topic of conversation has been, of course, tutu style. I am, as always, on the lookout for the best tutus and I found some absolute beauties here in Maitland, ready to take Tutu Tuesday to the next level.

Now, there are just so many incredible tutu styles out there! For a classic, elegant look, you can’t go wrong with the romantic tutu. You know, those flowing, ethereal tutus with layers of soft tulle. Just picture yourself waltzing around a grand ballroom with a romantic tutu swirling around you – it’s magical, isn't it?

But maybe you’re not the ballroom princess type? No worries! There are also modern, contemporary tutus that are more about geometric shapes, sharp lines, and bold colors. And who says tutus can’t be quirky? If you’re feeling brave and experimental, there are even some tutus that feature unconventional fabrics, bold patterns, or even some pretty edgy accents! You’re probably thinking this doesn’t quite scream Maitland. It’s a fair thought. But honestly, even just walking down the street wearing a classic black tulle tutu would really be a statement in this lovely, historical little town.

Now, here’s the thing: Tutu Tuesday isn't just about looking fabulous, it's about embracing your inner dancer. So, regardless of whether you’re a professional ballerinas like me, or just a beginner who’s recently started lessons, or even someone who's just admiring from afar – this is a day where you can celebrate the joy and beauty of dance. Even just slipping into your favorite tutu (yes, even over your favourite jeans!), putting on a playlist, and practicing your five-counts in your bedroom – I promise it will uplift your mood and put a spring in your step.

But let’s get back to #tututuesday. You can even wear a tutu just for fun - and this is where Maitland really shines. It’s such a vibrant community that it feels like everyone has something special about them. Here’s my idea – get together with a few friends, pick a spot around town, have a picnic in your tutus, and snap some amazing pictures. It’s sure to create some fantastic memories. After all, we are living for those aesthetic Instagram snaps!

So, if you see a gaggle of us ballet gals out and about with our tutus this Tuesday, don’t be shy – say g’day! Come chat about dance, life, the best places for a tutu fix in Maitland. And most importantly, make sure to share your own tutu styles and have a truly spectacular Tutu Tuesday in Maitland, NSW! #tututuesday
