Tutu Tuesday in Griffith, New South Wales: A Celebration of the Tutu

Hey gorgeous ballet bunnies! It's your girl, Chloe, back with another blog post, and this time it's all about #tututuesday and why it's the most fab day of the week (fight me on that). Seriously though, I reckon every Tuesday needs a sprinkle of tutus to brighten up the week.

I'm kicking off Tutu Tuesday in the beautiful Riverina town of Griffith, New South Wales, where ballet is more than just a dance - it's a whole darn passion! We have an amazing ballet community here, and the vibe is super supportive and creative. And what better way to celebrate than with a whole lotta tulle, right?

So, for all you newbies out there wondering what this whole Tutu Tuesday thing is about, let me give you the low-down. It's a social media craze, started by a bunch of ballet enthusiasts, who are, quite frankly, brilliant. The idea is to celebrate everything tutu: the history, the fashion, the artistry, and of course, the joy of a good twirl.

Now, here's where the real fun begins, because there's no wrong way to do Tutu Tuesday! Wanna throw on your fanciest tutus, get out in the street and strike a pose? Do it! Want to spend the day binge-watching ballet movies while rocking a fluffy tutu? Go for it! Want to wear a tutu for a whole day while you get on with your daily routine, because, well, you just feel like it? Rock on!

I reckon the most important thing is to own that tutu and own the day. Trust me, there's something seriously empowering about wearing a tutu. You automatically get this little extra bounce in your step, a bit of sass in your walk, and just an overall aura of confidence. It's like the garment says, "Yeah, I know I look fabulous, deal with it!"

And speaking of fabulousness, let's chat about the sheer diversity of tutus! There are more types than you can shake a leg at (and I'm sure you wouldn't want to shake a leg while wearing a tutu - it's kinda tricky!).

So, here are some of my fave types of tutus, ready for you to rock this Tutu Tuesday (and every day!):

  • The Romantic Tutu: It's a total classic, the picture of graceful and elegant ballet, with its layers of soft tulle, floating around your legs like a cloud. Think the tutu in *Swan Lake* or *Giselle*. They usually feature an incredibly fitted bodice and tons of soft tulle that creates this breathtaking, romantic effect.
  • The Tutu for Ballerinas On the Go: The casual, every-day kind of tutu - comfy but chic, a staple for ballet enthusiasts like me. Think denim tutu or stretchy, sporty style, paired with a plain white t-shirt or hoodie. They're versatile and easy to wear. You can find some amazing tutu styles at online shops like Etsy and Depop - you never know what treasure you'll discover!
  • The Dramatic Tutu: Think "Black Swan." Now, you don't actually need to channel the darker side of Natalie Portman to pull this off (though if you do, go for it!) This tutu is more for the sassy, the bold, the one who's not afraid to make a statement.
  • The 'I'm just going for coffee but also looking like I'm ready for a night at the opera' Tutu: It's the perfect mix of practicality and elegance. I'm thinking a soft, flowing tutu paired with a stylish top or even a leather jacket.
  • The DIY Tutu: Honestly, a tutu you made yourself, whether you're using a bunch of leftover fabric scraps or are making a beautiful masterpiece of colourful tulle is totally the way to go for a unique tutu on #tututuesday. You can check out all sorts of DIY tutu tutorials online โ€“ it's super easy!

Whatever style you go for, remember the beauty of Tutu Tuesday lies in your unique expression and your passion for dance. Embrace the tutus, ladies (and gents!), own those twirls, and remember that a little bit of tulle can truly make the world a more fabulous place!

So, what's your Tutu Tuesday look going to be? Post pics and use the hashtag #tututuesday. We want to see all your gorgeous twirling! Cheers from your girl, Chloe, bringing the Tutu Tuesday vibe to Griffith, NSW!
