Tutu Tuesday in Ulverstone, Tasmania: A Tutu-tastic Time!

Hey gorgeous gals and fellas! It’s your fave ballerina and blogger, Ella, here, bringing you all the latest from the fabulous world of fashion – and, of course, some seriously fierce #tututuesday vibes!

So, it's Tutu Tuesday and, naturally, the day had to start with a trip to the lovely seaside town of Ulverstone in Tasmania. This place is known for its stunning beauty, laid-back vibe, and – you guessed it – a heap of fabulous dance studios, including one run by my fab dance teacher and friend, Fiona.

Now, Fiona’s studio is a veritable paradise for dance lovers, with an amazing selection of tutus that’ll make your head spin. We’re talking classic romantic tutus with miles and miles of tulle (just like the ones I adore for Swan Lake), sparkly show-stopping tutus with sequins galore that make me feel like a proper star (perfect for a Nutcracker performance!), and even those funky, modern tutus for the edgy dancer in us all, with edgy asymmetries and dramatic shapes.

Fiona’s studio is actually where I first started out in ballet when I was just a wee nipper – a whole lot younger than I am now. And lemme tell you, my first tutu was the biggest, puffiest thing you ever saw, all soft and pink, just like a real princess. But as I grew and my dancing evolved, I discovered all sorts of other tutu styles. It was like my fashion taste – just kept changing with every performance. I mean, from those super short, sleek ones for contemporary work, to the elaborate ones with the gorgeous bodices adorned with beads and pearls for the classical ballet – it’s all part of the tutu story, don't you think?

But enough about tutus, let’s get down to business! Ulverstone is definitely an awesome place to explore. Let me tell you about my absolute favourite spots.

Where to Tutu Around in Ulverstone
  • Ulverstone River Walk: This is the perfect place for a stroll and some insta-worthy snaps in your Tutu. It’s so picturesque with its quaint shops, beautiful bridge, and serene waters. Just be sure to strike a fab ballet pose or two – and let the river flow around your tutu. And who knows, maybe you'll catch me doing a pirouette here sometime. This river is also a fab place for those lovely sunsets.
  • The Ulverstone Entertainment Centre: This awesome theatre hosts a bunch of artistic events, like theatre shows and musicals, and is the place to be for ballet lovers – who can say no to a night at the theatre – in a seriously fantastic tutu?!
  • The Ulverstone Museum: It’s so fabulous, filled with all kinds of fascinating historic pieces that bring Tasmania's history to life. A real feast for the eyes – even if the museum is pretty serious for some fabulous Tutu-ing!

You know what's great about ballet in Australia? It's thriving – I mean, we have so many fantastic dancers and studios popping up all over the place. There’s just so much passion for ballet in Australia – and I’m not surprised at all. After all, it's so expressive and artistic – it's a pretty darn cool form of self-expression. I mean, ballet is my life, and I’ve been lucky enough to perform on so many incredible stages. But to be honest, even with all the glamour of the stage, there’s just nothing quite like spinning in your favorite Tutu at a lovely studio, with all your fab friends.

It’s places like Ulverstone that really put me in that good mood – it’s where ballet and community really meet. And as I’m doing my final pirouette before I leave, I’ve gotta say – it's time for us to go out and make some tutu magic happen wherever we are! So go forth, be bold, and have a tutu-tastic time. #Tututuesday #UlverstoneTasmania
