Tutu Tuesday in Penrith, New South Wales #tututuesday

G'day fellow dance enthusiasts and fashionistas! It's your girl, Lily, back with another Tutu Tuesday. This week, I'm bringing the twirls to the streets of Penrith, New South Wales. A little different from the usual, right? But hold on, because this suburb's got some surprises up its sleeve.

I've been touring with a contemporary ballet troupe these past few months, and it's been incredible seeing how dance transcends geographic boundaries. The passion for ballet in Australia is so strong. From the bustling studios of Sydney to the quaint dance schools of regional towns, the love of this art form knows no limits. Now, Penrith might not be the first place that comes to mind when you think ballet, but let me tell ya, this town's got a surprising dance scene.

Okay, let's get back to the topic at hand - Tutu Tuesday! So, I've been thinking about how I can keep the Tutu Tuesday vibes going even when I'm on tour. The answer? Find inspiration in everyday outfits. It doesn't always have to be a full-on tutus. Sometimes, it's the little touches, the unexpected flourishes of tulle that can make the whole ensemble pop. I've found some really rad fashion gems in Penrith today, that I can’t wait to share.

First up, I snagged a stunning, flowy black tulle skirt from the little boutique in the mall. It’s this ethereal, layered fabric that moves like a dream when I walk. Talk about chic and affordable! It's perfect for that day-to-night transition, y'know? Casual for a brunch with the girls, then I can switch it up for a romantic dinner by pairing it with a cute cami and heels. Boom! Easy elegance without sacrificing comfort. I can’t wait to experiment with this piece. It screams “black swan meets city girl”, don’t you think?

Next up, a little tulle magic on the top. This time, a beautiful lilac floral top I found at this hidden gem vintage store. A little vintage lace, a whole lot of charm. You can already guess what happened, right? Yep, it's got a little bit of tulle peeking out from under the lace detailing. And the best part? It just about sparkles in the sunlight. This top is pure elegance and sophistication. It's like stepping into a French fairytale. Plus, who doesn't love a bit of floral print, amirite? I paired it with my favorite ripped jeans and my trusty ballet flats. Easy-peasy and super stylish.

But the real surprise? I stumbled upon a hidden gem of a studio! Penrith Dance Academy, right? This place is bustling with passion. They have classes for everyone - ballet, contemporary, hip-hop - you name it! They have a diverse array of talented dancers from beginners to advanced, but they all share this unyielding love for dance, you know? Just hanging out there was inspiring, especially for me with my professional background. The vibes are good. These guys even have an amazing program for dancers of all levels, focusing on building technique and creating performance opportunities. I chatted with one of the students who told me about the upcoming showcase where they get to perform in gorgeous tutus with different styles. I'm thinking traditional tutu styles with the romantic layers and that quintessential tulle, with a little bit of whimsicalness for good measure!

And listen, when we talk tutu styles, we can’t forget about those amazing tutus designed specifically for contemporary pieces. They're not as fluffy, they’re more about those sleek and modern silhouettes, y'know? Those tight, flowing lines designed to accentuate movements. Maybe even some colour blocking - the pops of bold colours are always captivating. Contemporary ballet styles just take it to a whole new level. It’s more about fluid grace and storytelling than rigid perfection. You've got your romantic ballerinas, your modern dance champions, and even some hip-hop flairs within the contemporary style, making for some serious dance magic.

Penrith is proving that you don’t have to be in the heart of a big city to find great dance and fashion! My heart is filled with love for the creativity and spirit I found today in Penrith. You never know what inspiring and stylish moments are just around the corner, even in the most unexpected of places. So, my fellow Aussies, if you're ever in the Penrith area, don't forget to check out these gems and let's keep the Tutu Tuesday vibe alive! Keep twirling and always embrace your inner ballerina!

Remember, tutu doesn't have to be just for ballet anymore. We can own the everyday, one twirl at a time. I’m sending good vibes and even better style!
