Tutu Tuesday in Leopold, Victoria: A Celebration of Dance and Fashion #tututuesday

Hey dance fam! It’s your girl, Lily, back with another dose of fashion and all things ballet. As a professional ballerina, you know tutus are pretty much my jam. So, naturally, I had to celebrate #Tutuesday right here in Leopold, Victoria.

Now, Leopold might not be known for its high-fashion scene, but you’d be surprised at the number of dedicated dance schools popping up in the region. We’ve got some serious talent in these parts, and believe me, it’s inspiring!

But let's talk tutu styles for a minute. It wouldn't be Tutu Tuesday without discussing the iconic garment of ballet, would it? From the classic romantic tutus to the sleek contemporary ones, tutus have a way of evoking so much emotion and capturing our hearts. Today, we’re all about exploring those classic and romantic styles. The traditional, airy tulle ones with their billowing tiers always evoke an air of magic and whimsicality. This week I’m channeling those vibes by rocking my favorite romantic tutu - it’s a soft, powder blue, with a few delicate layers and an abundance of sequins. Talk about sparkle and shine, eh?

As for the makeup, I went for a soft, ethereal look to match my romantic tutu vibe. A touch of rosy blush on my cheeks, some light shimmery eyeshadow, and a bold, red lip. I’m feeling like a ballerina princess! To really bring my Tutu Tuesday look home, I’m styling my hair in a classic bun and sporting some classic pointed ballet shoes – these beauties are black with a delicate bow and the softest leather I've ever felt.

I took my tutu Tuesday adventure down to the local park in Leopold. It’s just this cute little green space near the coast. The salty breeze blew through the tulle and, oh man, I swear the sunlight on that sparkly fabric was a masterpiece. If you want to find some creative inspiration, the local park is the best place. And believe me, I’ve used my fair share of park benches as makeshift barre for those impromptu practice sessions!

I snapped some pictures, took in the fresh air, and just embraced that happy feeling. This was pure, simple joy, folks. You know, it's interesting. Ballet is not always seen as a “cool” or trendy activity, but we all have our own passions. Dance has given me so much in life – discipline, confidence, and a connection to the artistic side of my soul. And I wouldn’t trade it for anything.

So, what’s my advice for all the dance lovers out there? Own your passions, be proud, and don’t be afraid to let your unique sparkle shine! Go ahead and embrace your Tutu Tuesday vibes, wherever you may be, even if that means just wearing a tutu around your house or practicing those ballet moves in your bedroom. As long as you're feeling the love, that's all that matters.

Speaking of love, I can’t forget to give a shoutout to all the ballet studios and dance teachers here in Victoria. You guys are the real MVPs! The amount of talent emerging from these studios is remarkable. Ballet is more than just a hobby, it’s a passion and a journey, and these studios and teachers help nurture it in countless young hearts. From the graceful leaps to the mesmerizing footwork, ballet takes dedication and artistry. It’s definitely more than just pretty twirls and fluffy tutus.

As for the rest of you, I’d love to see your Tutu Tuesday outfits! Don’t forget to share your pics on Instagram and tag #tututuesday so we can all connect and share the love for ballet. And a special shout-out to my fellow Aussie dancers. Remember, there’s a huge dance community out there waiting to support your passion, whether you’re rocking a classic tutu at a fancy studio in Melbourne or practicing your pliés at your local park in Leopold, Victoria.

Now go forth and embrace your love for all things ballet. Don’t forget, every day can be a little bit Tutu Tuesday. Until next time, stay groovy and keep dancing!

Love,
Lily
