Tutu Tuesday in Narrandera, New South Wales: A Tutu-tiful Celebration!
G'day, dance lovers! It's your girl, Clara, coming to you live from sunny Narrandera, New South Wales, for a Tutu Tuesday extravaganza you won't want to miss!
For those of you who don't know, Tutu Tuesday is a weekly event where dance enthusiasts all over the world don their best tutus and spread a little ballet magic.
Here in Narrandera, we're taking Tutu Tuesday to a whole new level! This vibrant regional town is truly embracing the art of ballet. Forget the idea of "no-one can make it out here." We're proving the "bush" can be just as fabulous!
Today, we saw everything from classic romantic tutus with layers upon layers of tulle (so dreamy!) to modern, funky tutus that could totally rock a street dance session! Let's be honest, there are few garments that evoke so much emotion and power as a tutu.
I've been documenting the highlights for you lovely folks, so here's the rundown of what went down in Narrandera.
- A Tutu-Tastic Street Parade! We kicked things off with a colourful tutu parade that snaked its way through the town centre. Think vibrant tutus in all colours, sparkling sequins and enough tulle to make your head spin. The smiles were wide, and the energy was electric. It's like we were right there at a Royal Ballet performance in London... only a whole lot hotter!
- "The Tutu Makeover Challenge"! For those of us who aren't quite ready to rock a full-on tutu, there was "The Tutu Makeover Challenge". Locals got the chance to get creative by transforming plain items like t-shirts and even old curtains into tutu masterpieces. It was all about thinking outside the box and unleashing our inner fashion designers! This part got real cheeky... people were pulling tutus out of the back of their utes. The level of Aussie creativity on display was next level.
- The Tutu Cafe! We've all been there - standing around after a sweaty dance class. So, what do you do? Head to The Tutu Cafe of course! Narrandera's cafes embraced the Tutu Tuesday vibe. Think tutu-themed cupcakes, tutu lattes and tutu-licious smoothies. It was the sweetest (and most Instagrammable) spot in town.
I met so many lovely locals. Everyone I spoke to raved about how Tutu Tuesday has breathed new life into Narrandera! And you know, as someone who's been passionate about ballet since I was a little kid, it's so awesome to see this art form taking root in places like this. I mean, it's not exactly the Sydney Opera House, but Narrandera sure had some incredible energy going on today.

We were even lucky enough to get some awesome #Tututuesday footage from local drone pilot, Greg "Skyhigh" Thompson (he does great work! And a bit of a legend around here.). He managed to get an amazing bird's eye view of the whole town, which truly captured the magnitude of this tutu-tastic celebration.
But, the most amazing part of Tutu Tuesday, Narrandera is just the pure joy it brings. Seeing children giggle as they twirl around in their homemade tutus... seeing older women looking so elegant in their feathered and sequined tutus ...it truly melts my heart.
You know, some days it's great to be out there strutting my stuff on stage in a beautiful, professional tutu, but honestly, the smiles and the community spirit are the most incredible part of what we do as dancers. And what we were experiencing in Narrandera today is just about as close to pure magic as it gets.
