Tutu Tuesday in The Entrance, New South Wales

Hey there, tutu lovers! It's your girl, Elle, back with another fashion fix, and this time, we're hitting the streets of The Entrance, New South Wales.

Now, I know what you're thinking: a tutu at the beach? Sounds crazy, right? But hold your horses, fashionistas! I'm about to blow your mind.

This week's #TutuTuesday challenge was all about blending ballet elegance with coastal cool. I mean, who wouldn't love to twirl their way down the sand? Especially when you have the stunning Central Coast backdrop and the sound of the ocean waves to serenade your dance moves.

I hit up the local market at The Entrance, filled with artisan crafts, handmade jewellery, and oh, so much more. It was the perfect place to snag some unique finds and get some outfit inspiration.

You see, there's a whole new world out there when it comes to tutus. No longer just for the stage! We're talking modern, versatile designs that scream “I’m stylish and I love to dance". You can style them with a classic tee and jeans for a casual, comfy vibe or pair them with a breezy flowy maxi skirt for a boho-chic aesthetic. For the bold fashionista, we have bright, patterned tutus that can stand on their own as statement pieces. The key is to have fun and let your creativity take flight.

I landed on a gorgeous, pale-blue tulle tutu that just shimmered in the sunlight. A bit romantic, a touch playful, it embodied the vibe of The Entrance. The flowing, layers added an extra air of whimsy. It’s all about letting those tulle layers dance, much like a ballet dancer at the end of a grand pas de deux.

Now, I couldn't wear a tutu without incorporating a bit of my ballet background! Ballet in Australia, has a rich history, and it’s a genre I deeply admire. And, as a dancer, I’m always looking for a reason to break out the moves. And break out them I did!

I kicked off my #TutuTuesday adventure with a pirouette on the pier, feeling the salty breeze on my face. The sunshine glistened on the water, reflecting the happy colours of my tutu, creating a picture-perfect moment.

I then channeled my inner ballerina and did some improvisational solo dancing on the sandy beach. Think "arabesques" with the ocean as my backdrop, “soutenu jumps" across the golden sand, “developpes” with the pier framing my moves. I kept it playful, and felt every muscle, each move, reflecting the magic of my surroundings.

After all, who can resist a good twirl with the waves as your dance partner?

  • Styling Tips
  • Don't be afraid to mix and match your tutu with different styles, prints, and textures.
  • Play with colour! Go for a bold hue or stick with neutrals to keep it classy.
  • Accessorise wisely. A straw hat, a few bangles, and some cute sandals are the perfect additions for a coastal-chic look.
  • For the beach, try a cotton or linen tank or tee and a straw boater or a floppy sun hat. A bit of boho chic in there with an espadrille or Birkenstock sandals, perfect!

I promise, rocking a tutu on a day trip to The Entrance is a good idea!
