Tutu Tuesday in Somerset, Tasmania: A Whirlwind of Colour and Style #tututuesday G’day, fellow ballet enthusiasts and fashionistas! It’s your girl, Lily, bringing you the latest from the dance floor, and let me tell you, Tutu Tuesday in Somerset, Tasmania, was an absolute hoot! I’m not sure about you, but my heart beats a little faster whenever I get to put on a tutu, and today was no exception. As always, Tutu Tuesday at Somerset Ballet Academy brought out the best of the best - ballerinas and wannabe ballerinas alike - ready to embrace the joy of expression. This week’s theme was "Carnival of Colour," and trust me, the colours were out in full force! We saw a dazzling display of vibrant hues, each more captivating than the last. Here are some of the looks that truly stole the show: • **Classic Romantic Tutu**: I’m a sucker for the romantic, soft, and delicate style of the classical tutu. This is your standard fluffy ballerina style - made from layers upon layers of tulle, usually in a light and flowing material that creates a full and romantic look. One dancer, who rocked this style like a pro, chose a soft peach with a sprinkle of glitter - it truly was an angelic vision! • **Modern, Structured Tutu**: A modern interpretation of the traditional design - we saw several tutus that boasted a structured silhouette, with more angular lines. A little less fluffy and a little more streamlined, it’s a style that commands attention with a sense of movement and edge. I adored a black and silver combination on a beautiful young dancer. • **Fun, Experimental Tutu**: Let’s be honest - Tutu Tuesday is a time for fun and experimentation, and this week didn't disappoint. Some dancers brought their personal touch, and we saw unique combinations, fabrics, and accessories like feathers, ribbons, and even sequins. It’s great to see some dancers putting their own spin on this tradition! Besides the gorgeous tutus, the atmosphere in the studio was filled with joy, camaraderie, and a real passion for dance. We’re lucky to have such a vibrant and welcoming ballet community in Somerset, Tasmania, and I encourage anyone, even if you’ve never donned a tutu before, to come along to Tutu Tuesday next week - it’s all about the love for dance, so don’t be shy! That's a wrap for this week's Tutu Tuesday - until next time, keep those twirls flowing! #tututuesday #balletinaustralia #somersettasmania
