Tutu Tuesday in Waikerie, South Australia: #tututuesday

G'day, lovelies! It's your girl, Chloe, back again with another dose of fashion-meets-dance goodness. Today, we're swapping the studio for the stunning Riverland in South Australia. It's Tutu Tuesday in Waikerie, and I'm channeling my inner prima ballerina with a seriously fabulous frock (I mean, tutu!), and I'm here to tell you all about it.

Now, you all know my love affair with tutus goes deep, but this week's tutu is something special. Think classic elegance with a touch of modern sass. This bad boy is a classic "Romantic" style tutu, which means it's got a long, flowing skirt made from layers of tulle. But here's the twist - this tutu is made in a stunningly bold emerald green, perfect for adding a bit of drama to the picturesque backdrop of the Murray River.

As I'm twirling along the banks of the river, the breeze catching the layers of tulle, I feel like I'm living in a fairytale! Waikerie is already a fairytale town, you know. You've got this incredible mix of natural beauty, vibrant history, and just a touch of Aussie charm, which I'm sure has inspired some great ballets in its time, and of course, ballet in Australia has a very strong tradition.

It wouldn't be a Tutu Tuesday without a little dance-related fun, would it? So, imagine me, pirouetting with the pelicans (don't worry, they were keeping their distance - I'm not THAT crazy!), my tutu swirling and catching the light. Honestly, it felt like a real life ballerina performance.

Speaking of the light, the colours here in Waikerie are just breathtaking! From the shimmering blues of the water to the lush greens of the surrounding vegetation, it's truly the perfect setting for a #tututuesday celebration. Even the sand has a touch of golden shimmer in the sunlight. Makes me feel like I'm dancing through a dream.

So, what can you wear with a tutu? Anything, darlings! From chic to casual to funky and fun, tutus are amazingly versatile. Today, I'm going with a vintage white silk blouse (to give it that retro vibe) tucked into the tutu, plus some chunky platform sandals. My statement piece, though, has got to be the gorgeous bronze sunhat. It's a little nod to Waikerie's sunny vibes, plus, it's the perfect accessory for adding a bit of sophistication to this tutu masterpiece. I mean, what is a #tututuesday without a great hat?!

A little fashion tip for all you Tutu Tuesday newbies: Don't be afraid to experiment. From soft pinks to bold black, to dramatic purple - the beauty of a tutu is that it goes with just about any colour. A few of my personal favourites:

  • Black Tutu, A stunning classic and it's so versatile! Pair it with a chic leather jacket and heels for a night out. Or, go casual with a slouchy cardigan and sneakers. Either way, you’ll be looking amazing.
  • Romantic Style Tutu in blush pink or lavender. A tutu is a pretty awesome piece to wear to a festival. With a flowy, airy fabric and romantic style. Just add some boho-style accessories and get ready to dance.
  • Pastel Coloured Tutu with a statement top, like a brightly patterned blouse. The pastel colours make for a gorgeous spring-inspired outfit. So, for spring and summer weddings and garden parties - I love the look!
  • Red Tutu. Perfect for adding a little bit of edge to your wardrobe. Think bold statement makeup, stilettos, and leather jacket.
  • A classic white or ivory tutu paired with a colourful blazer is perfect for daytime celebrations and special events like Christmas parties and baby showers!

To end this Tutu Tuesday in Waikerie, it’s just not enough to dance alone. Whether you're dancing down the street with a bunch of your mates, taking part in ballet class, or simply having a laugh and getting silly in your tutu. Remember, the goal is to embrace that ballerina in you and spread the #tututuesday love - you can do it, I believe in you!
