Tutu Tuesday in Stirling North, South Australia - #tututuesday

G'day, darlings! It's your favourite ballerina blogger back with another edition of Tutu Tuesday. This week, we're taking things down south to the charming coastal town of Stirling North, South Australia. Known for its stunning beaches and laid-back vibes, this spot might seem like an unlikely choice for tutus. But trust me, once you see the outfits I've whipped up for this week's post, you'll be doing a pirouette straight to your wardrobe!

For this week's shoot, I was inspired by the colours and textures of the coastline. The bright turquoise waters against the ochre-coloured cliffs made me want to channel the dramatic yet delicate style of the Australian Ballet. Think romantic, flowing tutus paired with edgy leather jackets - a clash of styles that perfectly captures the spirit of Stirling North.

My Look

I kicked things off with a stunning hand-stitched tutu by the local Adelaide designer, Sarah Jane. This one's a masterpiece, a layered concoction of tulle in the palest of blues, adorned with a delicate pearl edging. It's airy, it's ethereal, and it feels just like the breeze from the ocean. For that dramatic flair, I went with a chic leather jacket - something I always tell my readers: Don't shy away from playing with contrasting textures. You'll be surprised how well the softest tulle complements the ruggedness of a good leather jacket!

  • To finish things off, I chose a pair of pearl-embellished ballerina flats in a silver hue, these are a must-have for any Tutu Tuesday outing! I wouldn't suggest full-on pointe shoes for a casual beach day, though.
  • Adding a touch of vintage flair to my outfit, I paired the whole look with a dainty pearl choker - it perfectly echoes the tutu's pearl edging.
  • A pop of bright pink on my lips with my favourite cherry red lipstick – the perfect way to bring a dash of cheeky charm to this look!

The Local Inspiration

Stirling North was bursting with creative inspiration for this week's #Tututuesday theme. There are a few local artists that are definitely worth checking out if you're visiting! I found these beautiful seashell sculptures at the Stirling North Gallery. So unique! They reminded me of all the delicate layers and curves in a classic tutu!
