Tutu Tuesday in Nyngan, New South Wales: #tututuesday

Hey gorgeous gals and guys,

It's your girl, Ellie, back again with another Tutu Tuesday! This week, I'm bringing you a little slice of #tututuesday magic straight from the dusty plains of Nyngan, New South Wales.

Now, you might be thinking "Ellie, what on earth are you doing in Nyngan?". Well, you see, darling, this week's #tututuesday adventure involved a little trip back to my roots, a journey to where it all started - the small-town heart of Australia where I first discovered my passion for the elegant world of ballet.

So, armed with my trusty ballet bag (stuffed with a couple of different styles, of course - a classic romantic tutu, perfect for a grand pirouette or two, and a cheeky modern number with some peekaboo tulle - I'm talking fashion, my dears!), I headed out to the sun-baked streets of Nyngan.

What did I learn on this unforgettable journey? Well, firstly, even in the middle of nowhere, you can find a spark of inspiration. In Nyngan, that spark came in the form of a charming old school hall, a place that had witnessed countless tales of youth and dreams over the decades.

I stepped into that hall, the sunbeams slashing across the wooden floorboards, and I felt an undeniable pull, a connection to my past. And you know what? The best part was getting the local community to join me in my #tututuesday fun!

Now, we're not talking a packed-out theatre in the heart of Sydney or Melbourne. We're talking Nyngan. A place where the locals have seen it all. And you know what? Those Nyngan folks, they're amazing. They rolled up their sleeves (figuratively, of course, since they were all in their Sunday best for the occasion), and we had a right old time!

We started with a bit of ballet basics – I mean, even seasoned dancers need to brush up on their arabesques every now and then, right? - followed by some laugh-out-loud impromptu choreography set to the iconic Australian soundtrack of Slim Dusty and John Williamson (yes, it got a little bit silly, in the best way possible). We finished the day with a delicious picnic under the Nyngan sky - sausage rolls, strawberry jam, and fairy bread - it was absolutely bloody brilliant.

This trip, my dear followers, was a beautiful reminder that the magic of ballet doesn’t belong only to the glamorous, fancy world of city dance schools. It’s something that can touch any heart, regardless of where you are in the world.

My journey to Nyngan, while unplanned, taught me some pretty important life lessons:

  • You never know where a tutu-tastic time will take you.
  • You don’t need fancy studios to discover the joy of dance. It’s all about that connection, you know?
  • The beauty of #tututuesday lies in its simplicity: all you need is a little courage and a lot of tulle.
  • A community spirit, especially when paired with fairy bread, will never steer you wrong.

And with that, I leave you with this: Go find your own Nyngan. Find your own spark of inspiration. Grab a friend, grab a tutu, and spread that joy. And don’t forget to share it on social media with #tututuesday.
