Tutu Tuesday in Kalgoorlie, Western Australia: #tututuesday Hey darlings! It's your favourite tutu-obsessed Aussie ballerina, back with another #tututuesday post! Today we're hitting the dusty streets of Kalgoorlie, WA, bringing the magic of the ballet to this rugged outback town. I'm here to show you that a tutu is a perfect fit no matter where you are. You just need a bit of sass and confidence, just like the pioneers who first settled these red plains.
For those who don't know, #tututuesday is a social media movement that celebrates all things tutus. It's a chance for dancers and non-dancers alike to wear a tutu and embrace their inner ballerina, even if it's just for a day. It's a call to spread the joy of dance and break free from societal norms. Who said we can't wear tutus outside of the studio? This little tulle skirt is my way of saying “take a risk” and have fun, and I’m bringing this movement to the golden heart of Western Australia.
So, I’m rocking a stunning new pastel-coloured tutu today! It's got the perfect mix of delicate ruffles and classic romantic style. Imagine, if you will, this beautiful cloud of tulle juxtaposed with the dramatic landscape of the Australian Outback – a stark and starkly beautiful contrast!
Of course, it wouldn’t be a Kalgoorlie #tututuesday without acknowledging the city's history! And where better to do it than at the iconic Super Pit. Standing atop this monumental expanse, I can’t help but imagine how powerful the ladies of the Goldfields would feel – these women of the golden era, tough as nails and with a pioneer spirit in their hearts! We could all learn something from these tough women, I reckon! It is inspiring to think of the strength, grit and glamour they possessed while rocking their own versatile dresses for mining, cooking, dancing and just being the women they were! So, my little pastel tutu – which can go from graceful to tough, delicate to daring – stands as a tribute to them.
You wouldn't believe the reaction I got from locals in the street, especially those from Kalgoorlie! There were so many laughs, surprised looks, and the odd “Good on ya!” – people were curious to understand the movement! That’s how we break down social barriers – just start doing and see the response. And don’t worry – even though I was strutting my stuff in my ballet-inspired tutu, I made sure my trusty pair of R.M. Williams were my solemates for the day! Let’s be real, in this land, practicality is just as essential as elegance.
If you're feeling daring, I encourage you to participate in the #tututuesday challenge! Wear a tutu for the day, whether you're in the office, on a day out, or simply for a selfie!
It’s not just about the tutu; it’s about being bold. It's about making a statement. It's about stepping outside of your comfort zone. Remember, every dancer – every single one of them – began with one small step – whether on a wooden floor or out in the Aussie desert.
So what are you waiting for, lovelies? Join the #tututuesday revolution and dance the day away. No matter what you're doing or where you are, remember to rock those tutus. You may just inspire someone, somewhere – or, as they say in Kalgoorlie: "We’ve got ya back!"
