Tutu Tuesday in Somerville, Victoria: A Whirlwind of Tulle and Sparkle!
Hello, fellow twirlers and tulle enthusiasts! It's your girl, Ellie, here, back with another post about my favourite day of the week – yes, you guessed it – #Tutuesday!
This week, I was feeling particularly inspired by the vibrant colours and quirky energy of the Somerville street scene, so I decided to make my Tutu Tuesday a celebration of all things bold and bright.
Now, let's get down to the nitty-gritty – the tutu!
For today's ensemble, I opted for a stunning, full-length "romantic tutu" crafted from a gloriously multi-hued ombre tulle, the colours seamlessly blending from a rich emerald green at the top, to a shimmering silver at the hem. This majestic design cascaded beautifully down, evoking both classic grace and modern flair.
Let's talk embellishment! I went for a bit of sparkly sass, adorning the bodice of the tutu with a row of shimmering, silver sequins, strategically placed for a touch of playful glamour.
Now, we can't forget about my "ballet footwear." Today, I felt a need for a pop of colour! I slipped on a pair of vivid cobalt blue satin pointe shoes. Let me tell you, there's just something so powerful about a splash of colour that cuts through the usual white or pink. This particular pair features a gorgeous swirl of silver ribbon wrapping around the ankle – giving that classic pointe shoe a dash of edgy elegance.
But, a Tutu Tuesday isn't just about me. As I was making my way through Somerville's vibrant heart, I spotted an abundance of other lovely souls sporting tutus with impeccable flair!
- There was a group of students who had recreated a contemporary piece featuring stunning, ethereal white tutus that were so wispy and free-flowing. They looked like butterflies caught in the wind, moving together in perfect harmony. Absolutely breathtaking!
- Next, I spied a young mother wearing a lovely, classic tutu that evoked images of a classic Victorian ballerina. It featured a soft blush pink fabric with delicate ruffles – and her little girl had a mini-me version of the tutu that made my heart melt!
Let me tell you, these are the moments that make Tutu Tuesday so special. The sense of community, shared creativity and laughter. Seeing people let their inner-dancer shine through in their own unique way.
