Tutu Tuesday in Coonabarabran, New South Wales: A Tutu Tale #tututuesday

G'day lovelies! It's Tutu Tuesday here in Coonabarabran, New South Wales and let me tell you, this little town is embracing the tutu spirit in a big way!

Okay, so maybe not the whole town is wearing tutus, but for a Tuesday, we're kicking it up a notch. It all started with my little "Tutu Tuesday" social media post. It was just a cheeky suggestion: why not wear your best tutu for a day? What started as a bit of a laugh quickly became a whirlwind of tutus and twirls, spreading like a virus in the best way possible! It was delightful.

I’ve been dancing in this city for a few years now, and it's safe to say the ballet community here is strong. But I'd be lying if I said Tutu Tuesdays hadn't sparked something special. It's brought together a range of people who may not have even met before. From ballerinas of all ages to mums and dads pushing prams and even a few blokes in (surprisingly fashionable!) tutus. Now that’s what I call community spirit.

For my Tutu Tuesday outing, I went with my favourite tulle number: a romantic pink confection with tiers of the most gorgeous tulle. Think romantic ballet fairytale – and then add some glitter because why not! It paired perfectly with my cute floral romper and a pair of classic ballet flats.

It was fascinating to watch people really embrace the Tutu Tuesday spirit. Some embraced the classic tutu styles. Others rocked their own uniquely-fabulous interpretations – one young lad even made a Tutu out of newspaper, complete with a hand-drawn "Tutu Tuesday" banner! And there were tutus for everyone – pastel tutus for the princess, vibrant rainbow tutus for the fun-loving bunch, even sparkly black tutus for the gothic girls!

Tutus are all about movement – whether that’s the graceful sway of a seasoned ballet dancer or the joyful leaps of a toddler! The simplest movement can be so joyful when you’re wearing a tutu! For a moment, everyone is transported into a world of fantasy and fun, where a simple twirl can change everything.

And that’s exactly what we all needed – a bit of lighthearted joy in a sometimes tough world. And what better way to celebrate than with tutus? Let’s be honest, there is really no better time to wear a tutu than when it’s Tutu Tuesday. I can’t wait for next week!

Here's what I learned from my Tutu Tuesday in Coonabarabran, New South Wales:
  • A little bit of joy goes a long way. Tutus are simply contagious!
  • Be brave! Don’t be afraid to wear a tutu! Let your inner dancer shine.
  • Celebrate the beauty of movement. Tutu Tuesdays celebrate all things dance and remind us all about the power of simple joy.
  • Keep your eyes peeled for a "Tutu Tuesday" near you! There’s no doubt that it’s spreading like a tutu tornado across Australia.

Happy Twirling!
