Tutu Tuesday in Cedar Grove, Queensland #tututuesday G’day lovelies! It’s your favourite tutu-loving blogger here, back with another #tututuesday instalment from the sunny state of Queensland! ☀️ Today, we're heading to the beautiful suburb of Cedar Grove for a dose of twirling and tutus. This vibrant little corner of Brisbane is home to a fantastic dance community, and it's the perfect place to celebrate everything that's awesome about tutus! 💖 I’m so excited to be celebrating #tututuesday from a place where my passion for dance began. The little dance studio tucked away on a quiet street in Cedar Grove was where I had my first ballet class when I was just five. I still remember how my little legs felt as I clumsily balanced in my first tutu. I knew then and there that I was going to spend the rest of my life swirling in these magical little creations. 🥰 For this #tututuesday, I decided to pay homage to my first ballet teacher, Mrs. Smith. Her dedication to teaching inspired my journey in ballet and her quirky sense of style inspired me to incorporate my love of fashion into dance. Mrs. Smith loved the old-school ballet style - the fuller tutus that just made you want to take a whirl! They were so glamorous and fairytale-like! 💖 So, I picked a classic tutu – a full, double-layered one that just screams 'princess ballerina' vibes. I know I might look like I've stepped straight out of a ballet book, but this tutu was the perfect way to channel my inner five-year-old and show my love for ballet. 🤩 This tutu really stood out with its light pink satin fabric and silver tulle overlays. Its classic romantic design is reminiscent of the Romantic tutu styles favoured during the early nineteenth century, when the lightness and freedom of movement associated with tutus allowed ballerinas to display their grace and artistry.✨ The perfect partner for my full romantic tutu? A vintage cardigan, of course! You know me, I love to combine classic dancewear with a bit of a vintage twist. This chunky, pastel cardigan adds a bit of 90s nostalgia to the look, reminding me of those days when everyone seemed to own one! 🤩 We're having a Tutu Tuesday at The Cedar Grove Performing Arts Centre today. As a local ballerina, it's important to support the incredible talent blossoming in my community, so we’ll be doing some open-class ballet, exploring tutus, and having a bit of a dance party! 🥳 This local dance studio has a huge community of passionate ballet lovers, and you can see it in everything they do. The way the kids’ eyes light up as they perfect a pirouette, the enthusiasm of the seasoned ballerinas in the adult classes, the laughter of friends chatting before the warm-up, all of this truly exemplifies what the beauty of ballet is all about. It's about passion, community, and the sheer joy of movement. 🥰 Don’t get me wrong, I absolutely love the classic ballerina aesthetic! There’s something so magical and whimsical about the iconic full tutu that I will always love, and for today, my full tulle creation truly embodies the ballerina essence. The tutus, though, have definitely evolved. There’s the dramatic, modern and abstract ones that just ooze boldness! These are really breaking the boundaries and showing us what's possible. 💖 So, to celebrate the legacy of ballet, we're gonna twirl and spin like nobody’s watching (but really, all of us will be watching because let’s be real, I’m all about a good Instagram shot, haha!). 😉 Remember lovelies, it's not just about the tutu – it’s about celebrating ballet. The beautiful, captivating art form that takes us on a journey to new lands and allows us to tell stories without speaking a word.✨ So, keep your tutus on the ready because there's a #tututuesday coming for you every week, bringing you stories of all things tutu-tastic and showcasing the best and brightest talent of our dance community. 🥰 Until next time, happy twirling! xo, Sarah 💕 #tututuesday #CedarGrove #Queensland * * *
