Tutu Tuesday in Barooga, New South Wales: A Tutu-tastic Celebration!

Hey, tutu-lovers! Itā€™s your girl, Chloe here, bringing you the latest from the world of dance, fashion, and everything fabulous. Today, Iā€™m whisking you off to the charming town of Barooga, nestled in the heart of New South Wales.

Now, you might be thinking, ā€œBarooga? What on earth could be happening there?ā€ Well, Iā€™m here to tell you, the folks of Barooga know how to party, and theyā€™ve got a thing for tutus! Itā€™s the biggest #tututuesday in Australia (I reckon). And let me tell ya, I've never seen such a collection of tulle and sequins.

Letā€™s get down to business, shall we? Whatā€™s a tutu Tuesday anyway? Imagine a town coming together, decked out in every tutu imaginable, from classic romantic to those cheeky little sassy ones that say "Look at me!" (It's practically a carnival.) And this ainā€™t your average dance recital, my friends. Itā€™s about letting loose, having a good laugh, and spreading some serious tutu love.

So, what were my highlights?

  • The kids, OMG! So adorable! Those little tutus on the pint-sized humans were pure cuteness overload! And the way they pranced about was the cutest thing I've ever seen. I nearly choked on my cuppa!
  • The Barooga tutu parade - now this was epic! Imagine hundreds of people, all sporting a tutu of some sort, winding their way through the town. There were tutus with pom-poms, glittery tutus, even one guy with a tutu made of recycled materials! I'd reckon the mayor of Barooga himself was in a tutu, it was amazing!
  • The Tutu Baking Contest: This, my friends, was an unexpected treat. Each contestant put their baking skills to the test. And yes, that means every single creation was themed around a tutu! Seriously! They were beyond creative: cakes shaped like tutus, cookies with tutu designs. You name it. It was an absolute feast for the eyes (and my stomach)!
  • The tutu competition! It was everything a ballerinaā€™s dream was made of. They had categories for everything: the most original tutu, the best handmade tutu, the tutu that best reflected the spirit of Barooga, and even a special category for tutus worn by the best dance crew. I just wanted to try them all on!
  • But the true highlight of the day, you ask? It was the infectious laughter and smiles. There were locals from all walks of life. It was like this whole town embraced its weird and quirky side with joy! Honestly, seeing so much joy in one place brought a lump to my throat. It made me think of how we all, deep down, love a little bit of sparkle and whimsicalness.

You wanna know something? #Tututuesday has gone global. From Tokyo to New York, tutu-loving folks are all taking part! They've got themed dances, tutu-themed markets, and some serious Instagram content going on. Itā€™s about being a little bit bold, celebrating self-expression, and of course, bringing on the glitter!

My tip to my #Tututuesday fashionistas out there: If youā€™re thinking about joining in the fun, keep it playful. I recommend ditching the long, classic, serious stage tutu for the ones that have a fun, colorful style. And for the fellas? Itā€™s not so much about looking like a classical ballet dancer. But rather embracing the idea of something cheeky. Maybe a skirt of tulle or even a tulle bandana. Trust me!

I know one thing is for sure, #Tututuesday is a movement thatā€™s here to stay, and Iā€™m so glad to be part of it. What better way to express yourself and let your inner diva out? Letā€™s keep this party going! Let the glitter fly, y'all!
