It's your fave dance blogger, Ellie, and it's finally Tutu Tuesday in the gorgeous little town of Teesdale, Victoria! You know how much I love a good tutu, and this week, I'm bringing you a special dose of tulle-tastic fun from the heart of rural Australia. As a ballet dancer who grew up in Melbourne, it's no secret that Australia has a thriving dance community. We've got the Australian Ballet, a ton of fantastic regional ballet schools, and some amazing independent studios. And what better way to celebrate the love of dance than with a full-on Tutu Tuesday extravaganza? This week, I wanted to bring the Tutu Tuesday spirit to a different setting—one that embraces the beauty of nature and the small-town charm that Australia is known for. And that's where Teesdale comes in. Nestled among the rolling hills and stunning scenery of the Grampians National Park, this little town holds a special place in my heart. The atmosphere here is so relaxed and welcoming, and I can already tell that Teesdale's Tutu Tuesday is going to be epic! We're talking tutu styles galore, from classic romantic tutus with yards of soft tulle to the more contemporary, structured looks, with edgy, geometric designs and bold, colourful accents. Imagine flowing tulle in every colour, paired with vibrant leotards and sleek pointe shoes. It's like a fashion dream come true! Why Tutu Tuesday? First of all, it's a fantastic excuse to dress up and feel like a true ballerina. But Tutu Tuesday is more than just about fashion—it's about celebrating the power and artistry of dance. Tutus are iconic symbols of ballet, and they hold a special place in the hearts of dancers around the world. Wearing a tutu empowers us, makes us feel confident, and allows us to express our creativity in a way that's uniquely beautiful. Whether you're a seasoned pro or a total beginner, Tutu Tuesday is an invitation to celebrate the beauty and joy of dance. My Tutu Look This week, I’m sporting a gorgeous romantic tutu with layers of soft pink tulle and delicate floral appliqués. It's a classic look with a touch of modern elegance. I'm pairing it with a sparkly black leotard and pointe shoes that match the pink accents on the tutu. I'm keeping the makeup and accessories minimal so that the tutu is the star of the show. Where to Celebrate Tutu Tuesday If you're in the Teesdale area, head down to the Teesdale Community Centre, where we're having a dance workshop led by the talented local ballerina, Sarah. This is a great opportunity to learn some basic ballet moves and experience the joy of dance in a relaxed and friendly environment. Even if you've never touched pointe shoes before, come on down, have a laugh and get your tutu on! It’s all about celebrating the beauty of movement and connecting with others through the language of dance. There'll be light refreshments available and some great local crafts and jewellery vendors on hand to tempt you with some fun purchases! If you're further afield, remember, Tutu Tuesday is a global celebration! Head out, pick a favourite tutu, and make it your own. Whether you're rocking your tutu in the park, at the shops, or at the beach, post a pic with your fave tutu, tag #tututuesday, and be sure to mention @dancingelle so I can check out your gorgeous styles! Why Dance? For me, dancing is my life, and it’s what keeps me grounded, focused, and happy.
