Tutu Tuesday in Esk, Queensland

Hey lovelies! It’s your girl, Chloe here, bringing you the latest in tutu-tastic fashion straight from the heart of Queensland, or as we like to call it, the sunshine state!

Now, I know what you’re thinking: tutus in Esk? Really? But trust me, my fellow dance devotees, even the smallest towns can have big tutu dreams.

This past Tuesday, as part of my mission to spread the gospel of tutu joy far and wide, I took to the streets of Esk with my trusty camera and my very best twirling pose. (Okay, maybe just a twirl in my head, but you get the idea!)

My first stop was at the Esk General Store, a quirky little gem where they sell everything from handmade fudge to vintage clothing, it's practically a ballet dancer's dream come true! You see, Esk has this incredible thing going on - a true "keep it real" vibe that just oozes with charm, and this place captures it perfectly.

And while I couldn’t find a tutu per se, I did find a gloriously fluffy and bouncy tulle dress in a vibrant emerald green. That’s the beauty of tutus - they're a source of inspiration that goes way beyond the confines of a traditional stage. Imagine my tulle dress paired with a classic white ballerina blouse – it’s a totally effortless yet elegant ensemble that's as perfect for a coffee date as it is for an evening under the stars. It just proves how flexible (pun intended!) tutus can be in making any outfit pop!

Next, I cruised down the main street and stumbled upon the local bakery, with a warm, inviting smell that I couldn't resist. This little spot, Esk's famous "Taste of Tradition" bakery, has this awesome thing they do - they put up a display case in their front window full of handmade artisan breads, freshly baked cakes, and sweet little pies that looked like tiny edible ballerinas! It was like a wonderland for any dance lover and food enthusiast. I grabbed a perfectly shaped and beautifully decorated poppyseed roll (I know, kind of a cheat but you'll forgive me, right?) and I decided to continue my search for Esk’s best tutu.

It wasn’t long before I found myself standing outside of the iconic Esk Cultural Hall, an architectural masterpiece (no seriously!) with an art gallery right next door. Let’s be real, you can't get much more artsy and culturally inclined than that! Even though there weren’t any tutu vendors around, I had this sudden flashback - I remembered the school’s annual fundraising dinner was just held there! That means… tutus! I saw the ladies of the local drama group decked out in gorgeous pastel tulle dresses and flowing skirts during the performance, giving me major Tutu Tuesday inspiration! It was all I needed!

And you know what, folks? This is what #TutuTuesday is all about: finding those everyday moments, the tiny details that show you that the spirit of tutu transcends any and every setting.

I may have been disappointed to find that there wasn't a proper tutu store in the town (shocking, I know), but what I found instead was so much more. It was a reminder that tutu joy isn’t just about the fluffy frills and whimsical dance moves. It’s about embracing the spirit of it all – the creativity, the playfulness, the unabashed joy of expressing yourself in whatever way you want. That is the beauty of tutus.

Now, back to our #TutuTuesday mission. Here’s a roundup of my favourite tutu style discoveries for your viewing pleasure. And, for those of you who are looking for the perfect #TutuTuesday piece, these styles will surely make you the star of your own personal #TutuTuesday!

  • Romantic Tutus: A ballet must-have! The classic romantic tutu - think flowing, layered tulle that just floats around you. Think delicate flowers and soft colors like pink and white - perfect for any girly girl!
  • Whimsical Tutu: A playful tutu to channel your inner child. Look out for bright, bold colours and maybe even a little bit of sparkle! This one will really bring your unique style to the forefront.
  • Modern Tutu: It's not all frills and fluff, honey! Think short, asymmetrical, maybe a bit edgy – that’s the modern tutu in a nutshell. Perfect for channeling a cool and chic vibe, like you're walking a high fashion runway.

Now, I’m no professional ballet dancer, (although I like to think I can pull off a decent plié and pirouette!). However, with my extensive experience as a fashionista, I have the inside scoop on what makes for a winning #TutuTuesday! So, I've curated a small tutu-tastic checklist to inspire your own #TutuTuesday outfits!

Let’s get down to the details! Here are my must-have tips for creating your own fabulous #TutuTuesday:

  • **Wear your tutu with confidence. ** It’s all about rocking that playful attitude and just having a good time!
  • **Accessorize. ** Add some sparkling jewelry, a colourful scarf, or a stylish hat. The sky is the limit! And remember, just a dash of personality can transform an average tutu outfit into a major #TutuTuesday masterpiece.
  • **Go for an unconventional style.** Remember: not every tutu has to be a fluffy, traditional affair! A black, ruffled skirt, for example, could easily qualify as a modern-day #TutuTuesday must-have.
  • **Pair your tutu with comfortable shoes**. Even in a tutu, you should feel comfortable enough to dance and twirl the day away.
  • **Make it personal.** Don’t forget the little touches, that something unique to YOU. It might be your grandma's antique necklace, a handmade flower crown, or a favourite vintage purse! Remember: a touch of personalisation makes a simple outfit unforgettable.
  • **Take pictures! ** Capture the fun, share it with your mates on social media, and make the most of the joy you get from twirling in your tutu.
