Tutu Tuesday in Rosedale, Victoria: A Celebration of the Tutu

G’day, fellow dance lovers! It’s your girl, Anya, back with another dose of all things ballet and fabulousness. Today, we’re talking tutus! Specifically, we’re celebrating Tutu Tuesday right here in Rosedale, Victoria, and boy oh boy, is it going to be a *whirl* of a day!

Now, if you’ve been following me for a while, you know how much I adore tutus. They're a symbol of elegance, strength, and grace – the epitome of classical ballet. But more than that, they're just so darn fun! And let’s be honest, every dance girl loves a good twirl in a pretty tutu, right?

For today's Tutu Tuesday, I’m taking a stroll through Rosedale to celebrate the diversity of tutu styles. From the classic Romantic tutu, with its flowing layers of tulle, to the sleek and contemporary variations that are making waves in the ballet world, it’s time to embrace all things tulle.

This morning I'm starting my Tutu Tuesday at the “Whimsical Tulle” boutique right in the heart of Rosedale. This adorable shop is practically bursting with the most exquisite tutus imaginable. There are literally hundreds of them on display! I spent a good hour trying them on and oohing and ahhing. And can we talk about their colour range? Seriously, you'll find everything from traditional white and pink to bold, vibrant hues, even sparkly, neon styles that’ll really turn heads.

• Classic Romantic Tutu: Whimsical Tulle has a dreamy collection of Romantic tutus perfect for any ballerina seeking that classic fairytale look. They're all about layers and layers of tulle, cascading beautifully as you twirl. They’re the kind of tutus that make you feel like you're floating! I couldn't resist picking up a delicate white one adorned with tiny, sparkling beads - pure magic!
• Contemporary Tutu: I'm loving the contemporary tutus popping up in Rosedale. They're not just for ballet anymore, my friends. These bold, modern styles are turning up everywhere! The store had an amazing contemporary one in a beautiful shade of emerald green. Think tight, sleek bodice and minimal fabric - so edgy yet graceful at the same time. This tutu could absolutely rock the dance floor (or even a casual brunch with your girls!).
• Ballet Tutu: And of course, a tutu collection isn't complete without a selection of true ballet tutus. From the elegant pointe shoe tutu (aka, the quintessential dancer's tutu) to the beautiful, flowing tutus used for choreography and stage performances - the options here are incredible. I even found a black tutu with an interesting cut that gave it a totally edgy vibe - perfect for modern interpretations of classical works.

Beyond tutus, Whimsical Tulle carries an amazing collection of ballet supplies too! Think cute leotards, tights in a variety of colours, and even chic dance shoes, and everything else a ballerina needs. I'm totally stoked to have found this hidden gem in Rosedale.

Australia has a rich and vibrant dance scene, boasting world-class ballerinas and incredible dance schools. The talent here is just breathtaking!
