Tutu Tuesday in Mortlake, Victoria: A Whirlwind of Tutu Styles
G’day, fashionistas! It’s your girl, Lily, back with another installment of my beloved #tututuesday. This week, we’re bringing the tutus to Mortlake, Victoria! This vibrant town has got a real energy to it, and it felt only right to celebrate Tutu Tuesday amongst the cobblestone streets and heritage buildings. Now, let’s dive into the gorgeous tutu styles I spotted today!
The first thing that struck me about the Mortlake community was their embracing of different tutus. I saw all sorts: Romantic tutus, puffy tutus, tutus that would make your jaw drop, and ones that had that quintessential classic ballet vibe. I saw a mix of textures, colours and embellishments - feathers, lace, sequins and tulle of all sorts. It was amazing.
Now, I'm going to admit, being in the heart of Mortlake I was a little unsure at first how this #tututuesday thing would go down. I imagined all the older folk in their flannies giving me the side eye. But the locals, let me tell ya, they really embraced it! The energy on the streets was incredible! Kids in the park dancing around in sparkly tutus, the mums even rocked tutus while pushing the prams. There was a group of teenagers even sporting neon pink tutus. The vibe was truly uplifting and you could feel the joy radiating from every corner.
I can’t forget about the amazing baker who decided to embrace Tutu Tuesday too. She whipped up some gorgeous tutu-themed pastries! They were an absolute work of art - mini cupcakes decorated with tulle swirls and dainty icing flowers. Honestly, they were so cute I almost didn’t want to eat them! The owner even told me about her new tutu-themed dessert which she planned on making for her shop, the "Tutu Cake", which was a chocolate cake filled with Nutella and a tutu shaped swirl of pink cream. A master of her craft, that’s for sure!
To finish the day, we had a tutu picnic in the Mortlake Botanical Gardens. It was beautiful! We enjoyed some finger foods and shared laughs. It was so refreshing to be amongst such a vibrant and supportive community.
Here are my top #tututuesday fashion moments from today.
* The iconic ballerina tutus are never out of style. These classics can never be ignored, they just have an extra layer of chic when worn on Tutu Tuesday.
* I really enjoyed the little girls who rocked the “layered tulle tutu" They looked like little sugar plum fairies.
* If you’re looking for a more contemporary and comfortable style, then “ballet inspired maxi skirts” might be your jam! They can be a good compromise if you still want to channel that ballerina vibe. And just like that, another #tututuesday comes to an end! The tutu fun doesn’t stop there. I encourage all of you to embrace Tutu Tuesday! Be creative and express yourself in a way that celebrates this incredible art form. And remember, a tutu can be so much more than just ballet gear! It's a symbol of joy, freedom, and the beauty of expression!
So, tell me about your #tututuesday, beauties! Have you been rocking tutus or spotted some cool outfits? Don’t forget to share them with me! I can’t wait to hear all about them.
Till next week!
